The Epic Games Store is well known for giving away free games every week. This is despite the company not turning a profit, but their latest offering may be the most appealing title to date. Since its launch back in 2018, the store has been consistent in its offerings to fans and whilst some of the titles are better quality than others, fans will always appreciate a freebie to add to their library.
However, it may be that the game announced for this week is one that many fans will be eager to grab straight away. The game in question is none other than Destiny 2: Legacy Edition and is revealed to be the first in the Epic Games Store December 2023 mystery game promotion, and if this is only the first offering, then fans may be in for further surprises.
Epic Games Store Gives Away Destiny 2
First launched in 2017 Destiny 2: Legacy Edition is a great First Person Shooter (FPS) and has earned various nominations and awards over the years. For those that haven’t had a chance to play the Bungie looter-shooter, then this deal from Epic Games Store would be an ideal opportunity to jump aboard and experience it completely free.
Fans who pick up the game will have access to the base game along with the Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, and Shadow Queen expansions. The latter of these is regarded as one of the best expansions for the game so to have access to this for free is really good news for fans.
There are other expansions available if fans want to expand their gaming experience for Destiny 2, as the Lightfall expansion is currently available on the Epic Games Store for $49.99. However, many fans have pointed out that this is not as good as the Shadow Queen expansion. Fans planning to pick this game up can also look forward to The Final Shape expansion which releases next year and concludes the current story arc of the game.
It appears that Epic is doing things slightly differently this year as in previous years they have given games away for free daily as it comes to the closing of the year. However, it has been confirmed that players will have to wait close to a week, as the next game is not available until 20 December but given the quality of this week’s game, fans will no doubt be hoping for more of the same.
Despite Epic giving away a great FPS title for free, it appears as always, you can’t satisfy everyone, and judging by the comments on social media, many fans want more:
Please gta V free – @fenerli1bey
please give discount for The Witcher 3 – @elite_snakeu
Please put fnaf on sale – @GVavleka
Unfortunately for Epic, you can’t please everyone and despite having an amazing title on offer for nothing, fans want more and of course, for nothing.
Looking at the games that Epic has released for free over the years, this is without a doubt the top title that they have given away to date. Some may argue that last December’s offering of Dishonored: Definitive Edition has been the best title to date, or maybe Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition, but certainly, the Bungie title tops the list for this year.
Having Destiny 2: Legacy Edition as a free game is sure to be a real draw for fans and there is no doubt that many will be taking up this option, even if it is just to add to their library. It’s quite surprising that this is free, given that it has numerous expansions but it’s a perfect pickup for players who are looking to get themselves a new FPS for zero cost.
