All the crewmates have well-thought-out backgrounds and skills, helping the player throughout their journey. However, due to one missed opportunity from Bethesda, players are still waiting to create a deeper connection with them.

In Starfield, a player’s ship is more than just a way of transportation to other planets, it’s like a home for the players and their crew. Each crew member has their own backstory, skills, and personality, making them an integral part of the journey.

However, players feel like the immersion of embarking on the journey with the crewmate is somewhat disrupted because they’re locked within the ship after the player lands. Recently, a Reddit user, boonusboiayyy, asked this question in the community and started a huge discussion.

Players know that Bethesda is capable of making the NPC’s interaction with other NPCs more diverse and engaging, as they did in Skyrim. This has made the whole community think that this is a missed opportunity to make Starfield‘s gameplay even more immersive.

Some players also agree and say that this was a feature in other games as well.

Bethesda can integrate this mechanic to deepen player engagement with their crewmates. This way, players will not only be more connected to the crew’s past and motivations, but also make the story of the game more enriched.

Bethesda Can Add the Mechanic in Future Updates

Bethesda Game Studios has a long history of committing to its game and taking it to the next level. They did this with Fallout and the Elder Scrolls Series, making them iconic despite various initial issues.

Due to this, the studio has set high expectations for itself. While Starfield delivered on many fronts, players still feel there is more room for growth.

Bethesda has another chance to listen to player feedback and allow crewmates to roam outside the ship more freely. This will add more depth and realism to the characters. This highlights that the game just needs a bit more attention that can potentially transform the mere crew members into beloved companions.

In the end, players are still enjoying playing Starfield but are hoping that the developers will add more details to the game.
