Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds’ friendship is one of the most iconic parts of the Deadpool & Wolverine press tour. The pair have perfectly captured their characters’ dynamic, despite having been close friends for years and fans enjoying every second of it. One would assume that they both know each other very well after such a long friendship. However, a recent interview would suggest otherwise.
Jackman and the film’s director, Shawn Levy, were asked to guess Reynolds’ favorite Taylor Swift song. Interestingly enough, they both ended up getting the answers wrong, and this is quite surprising considering just how obvious it was.
Ryan Reynolds’ Close Bond With Taylor Swift
Ryan Reynolds has always been a very close friend of Taylor Swift along with his wife, Blake Lively. The pair have often been spotted at her concerts, have been seen having dinner with her, and are very public about their friendship. Reynolds even sneaked in an Easter egg of the singer in Deadpool 2, wearing a shirt that showcased her two cats, Meredith and Olivia.
With this being common knowledge, it is not surprising that the actor was asked a question related to the singer in an interview with Variety. Shawn Levy and Hugh Jackman were asked to guess Reynolds’ favorite song by the singer, and they were quiet enough to think that they knew the answer.
Jackman wrote We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, off her fourth studio album, Red. The reason for the guess was that Reynolds seemed to have sung this song in his face during the last day of shooting. Shawn Levy’s approach was a little closer, picking Gorgeous from her sixth album, Reputation.
The guess was a good one since the song starts off with his daughter, James, saying the word ‘Gorgeous’. However, the real answer was completely different.
Taylor Swift Dedicated a Song to Ryan Reynolds’ Daughters
Not giving any explanation as to why, Ryan Reynolds revealed that his favorite song by Taylor Swift was Betty from her iconic album, Folklore. While many may be confused as to why this is the case, fans of the singer are very aware of the reasons. During the release of the album, the singer was very vocal about how the album followed a fictitious story of a love triangle between three people; Betty, Augustine, or August, and James.
Betty, I won’t make assumptions about why you skipped your homeroom but, I think it’s ’cause of me.
You heard the rumors from Inez, you can’t believe a word she says most times. But this time it was true.
She said, ‘James, get in, let’s drive.’
In the song, Betty, Swift brings up three names; Betty, James, and Inez. Naturally, many fans were curious about where these names were coming from. After some digging, they realized that the character names were dedicated to the children of Reynolds and Blake Lively.

“Ok but Gorgeous was a solid guess because his daughter, James, is the baby that says “gorgeous” at the beginning!” added shoshanagould.

“The way I shouted “BETTY” the second the question was asked” said bitesbybekah.
“Duh Betty (gorgeous was a good guess too)” talkwithrox stated.
With this in mind and the fact that Reynolds confirmed this during an interview with SiriusXM, it is only natural that he would name Betty as his favorite song by the singer. With this, many fans were surprised that Hugh Jackman and Shawn Levy were unable to guess the answer. with all this being common knowledge about the actor.
