The 66th Annual Grammy Awards is just around the corner and singer Billie Eilish’s fans just cannot contain their excitement. Eilish’s song “What Was I Made For?” from the fantasy film Barbie (2023) has earned her six nominations this year: Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Music Video, and Best Song Written for Visual Media.
The craziest part is that if Eilish wins the Record of the Year award, she will tie with legends like Paul Simon and Bruno Mars as it will be her third win in this category. It will certainly not be easy as she is up against some popular musicians like Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, SZA, Jon Batiste, boygenius, Miley Cyrus, and Victoria Monét.
Billie Eilish Can Create History at the 2024 Grammys If She Wins the Record of the Year Award
As per the Grammy nomination list, American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish has been nominated in six categories at the upcoming 66th Annual Grammy Awards (Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Music Video, and Best Song Written for Visual Media) for her song What Was I Made For? from 2023’s Barbie. If Eilish manages to win the Record of the Year at the event, she will create history at the age of 22 as she will tied with legends like Paul Simon and Bruno Mars.
Eilish is no stranger to prestigious awards as she has earned seven Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, two Guinness World Records, three MTV Video Music Awards, three Brit Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and an Academy Award. When she won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2022, she was officially the first person born in the 21st century to win an Academy Award.
Taylor Swift has her eyes on her first Song of the Year Award
Taylor Swift, who has been nominated in seven categories, has a huge chance of winning her first Song of the Year Award this year. Not just Eilish but Swift could also make history if she wins the Album of the Year award for the fourth time. This win will put her ahead of legendary singers like Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, and Frank Sinatra.
Apart from this, SZA and Janelle Monae also compete to become the first Black woman in the 21st century to secure the Album of the Year Grammy. The 66th Annual Grammy Awards will take place Sunday, Feb. 4, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles at 8:00 p.m. ET (5:00 p.m. PT). The ceremony will air on CBS and stream live on Paramount+.
