In a shockingly amusing plot twist, however, Marvel alum Chris Evans did the unthinkable in his forthcoming film with Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson with a DC reference so ingenious that even the two discordant fandoms can’t help but laugh together.

Chris Evans Makes An Epic Wonder Woman Reference

After playing the indefatigable MCU superhero for well over a decade, Chris Evans may have decided to bid farewell to the beloved role, but fans will never forget the indelible imprint he left as Captain America. And perhaps it is because of that very reason that it’s bewildering yet hilarious to see The Avengers star make a Wonder Woman reference in a new film with yet another DC star.

Starring The Rock – who played the eponymous superhero in 2022’s Black Adam – along with Evans, Red One is an upcoming action/adventure outing about rescuing an abducted Santa Claus and saving Christmas.

In a scene from the movie that recently went viral, Dwayne Johnson (Callum Drift) asks Evans (Jack O’Malley) to “grab a car” from a toy store after which the former transforms a Hot Wheels toy car into a life-sized Chevy Corvette using some mind-boggling tech. Seeing this, the Captain America: Civil War star rushes back inside the shop to ask the cashier – “You don’t have a Wonder Woman action figure, do you?”

Many Instagram users acknowledged the witty joke and one even wrote, “Black Adam and Captain America using Ant-Man technology trying to save Jonah Jameson.” For the fans who aren’t superhero geeks, Jonah Jameson (played by J.K. Simmons in the Spider-Man trilogy) is the bossy publisher of the Daily Bulge, a fictional newspaper.

Back to Evans. Steve Rogers might’ve been frozen for nearly seven decades, but he’s still got the rizz to impress Gal Gadot.

Red One – The First Official Trailer is Out
