The ability to unlock spirits comes early in Black Myth Wukong, specifically in Chapter 1. You’ll first encounter this feature when you come across an elite known as the Wandering Wight. After defeating this enemy, it will drop a blue flame, but you won’t be able to acquire it right away.

To unlock this spirit feature, you’ll need to progress a bit further, passing Guanyin Temple until you meet the Elder. The Elder upgrades your gourd, which then allows you to interact with the blue flames left behind by the Yaoguai Chiefs you eliminate. In Chapter 4 of Black Myth Wukong, there are 13 spirits you can find

This is found in Chapter 4, and this enemy spawns in the yard where you initially fought the Second Sister boss. It appears after completing the level, so revisit the area after beating the Second Sister to check if it’s there. Activating this spirit lets you wave your lantern to summon will-o’-wisps that chase your enemies, and equipping it moderately increases the will currency gained, which can be pretty useful in Black Myth Wukong.

2. Beetle Captain

Also in Chapter 4, you’ll find this spirit past the Upper Hollow shrine. Follow the winding path with insect sacs, and just before reaching the center, you’ll spot a non-elite Lantern Holder. Nearby is a small cavern where this enemy guards a wooden chest.

The activation effect allows you to jump through the air to evade attacks and dive down to hit a target. Equipping this spirit also moderately increases your maximum stamina.

This is a special spirit located near the Verdure Bridge in Chapter 4 and requires defeating the Elder Amourworm boss. Once you have access to the Painted Realm NPC hub, you’ll find a garden plot where the Proto Amourworm can grow. Feed it three Rice Cocoons from egg sacs in the Webbed Hollow, and it transforms into a blue flame. This spirit’s activation effect slams down on the ground while shooting venom multiple times. Equipping it moderately increases your critical hit chance when you are poisoned.
