The inspiration for the game, the ancient Chinese epic Journey to the West, has also inspired several other popular media franchises, such as One Piece and Dragon Ball. It was inevitable for the Destined One to be compared to the likes of Goku, and players can now bring their favorite fighter into the world.

As better technology becomes more accessible to gamers, modding has quickly become more common in the PC gaming community. Giving players the ability and power to tweak and change the game according to their liking is one of the major reasons people choose to game on PC. It was only a matter of time before we started seeing mods for Black Myth: Wukong, and one of the newest ones will bring a fan-favorite character into the game.

The protagonist of the original Journey to the West has inspired several characters in fiction. The most well-known among them would be Goku. The Super Saiyan shares many similarities with the divine simian, complete with his staff and also the mountable cloud Nimbus and the game features both of these objects.

While that question may never get an answer, we do know how the Saiyan would look in the world created by Game Science. While the new mod by SKINSWukong might not mesh seamlessly with the art style of the game, it’s a fun experiment. Goku’s animations in the game appear to be fairly smooth, and is also able to ride the cloud Jīndǒuyún realistically.

Now, the character model does appear to be more of a 3D asset than something tailor-made for the game. One reply to the footage also suggests they would like to see a version that looks more in line with the game’s art style. Regardless, fans of the series can enjoy a bit of a change from their usual furry protagonist.

Wukong’s Success Shakes the Video Game Industry with Xbox Feeling Major FOMO

Microsoft might be experiencing another Helldivers 2 moment here, as Game Science has delayed the release of the game on Xbox indefinitely. Given the game has become Steam’s most-played single-player game at launch, Microsoft is feeling the pressure as more and more gamers look at the company sideways.

The initial reason behind the delay on Xbox was a memory leak issue that required fixing. However, such a fix should have a timeline, and the lack of any release window is concerning for many people with Microsoft hardware. The game is available on PC, but the specs needed to enjoy the experience optimally are pretty heavy.

The success of the game is in large part due to the mythology the developers have chosen to adapt. Journey to the West is a highly influential piece of literature, and the game takes many elements from the tale while building a unique world and story.
