The game’s primary attacking pattern is using your staff and melee combat. While there are a variety of staves in the game, each with its own bonus and skills, there are more tricks in the Destined One’s arsenal that he can use in combat.

Some of them are various buffs, such as the Body Cooling Powder to reduce fire damage against bosses that use flaming weapons or the Evil Repelling Medicament that can increase your defenses. Several spells in the game can be used to deal with bosses. You can equip these spells when visiting Shrines.

Spells belong to four broad categories in Black Myth Wukong: Mysticism, Alteration, Strand, and Transformations. There are a total of seven spells you can acquire in the game, and you can equip any four to be utilized during combat.

Each spell has its own specific benefit, and the best way to find out which one works for you is to try them out in different scenarios. But you’ll find yourself gravitating toward some that have the most effective use in combat. Here are three of the best spells we think you should keep on you at all times.

3. Immobilize

Don’t be surprised if you end up spamming this spell at every opportunity. As the name suggests, this spell stops enemies in their tracks, allowing you a good few seconds of uninterrupted damage before they snap out of its effects. The spell is part of the Mysticism tree and is easily the most useful spell against bosses and large groups.

Immobilize can be obtained early in Chapter 1 and is given to you by a hermit who appears in a cutscene during your fight with the Bullguard boss. Acquiring this spell’s perks, such as Evanescence and Time Bargain, can help extend its duration, making it perfect for bosses that move around a lot, such as Lingxuzi.

Chapter 4 will grant you a powerful Relic, Envious Tongue, which has the perk Spread the Word. This causes Immobilize to affect all enemies around your initial target.

Ever felt like just one of you wasn’t enough to take on the many challenges of Black Myth Wukong? Well, you can change that with the Pluck of Many spell! This Strand type of spell will summon several clones of the Destined One to fight alongside him against his foes.

This spell is found in Chapter 2 after sliding down the dunes to reach the Windseal Gate shrine. There, you’ll find the headless minstrel NPC who will grant you this ability. On activating it, the spell will summon several clones of the Destined One to fight against his opponents, such as the many snakes summoned by Guangmou.

By unlocking all the perks of this spell, you can increase the health and duration of all the duplicates. The Volition node also allows the mirror images to cast their spells. Pairing this spell with Immobilize can result in a lot of damage dealt in a short amount of time.

This Alteration spell is found in Chapter 2 after beating the Tiger Vanguard boss. Rock Solid is Black Myth Wukong’s way of allowing you to parry your enemy’s attacks. Timing is everything in using this spell, but it can help you negate damage once you get the rhythm down.

Activating the spell just as an attack is about to land will result in staggering your enemy, canceling their move, and giving you enough time to land some counterblows. Make sure to pick up the Rapid Return, Rock Mastery, and Iron Clad perks for this spell.
