Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was released in November 2022 and faced the difficult challenge of replacing Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa / Black Panther. However, the film emerged as a commercial success with Letitia Wright’s Shuri taking over the mantle. Since the sequel’s release, rumors of a third film have been circulating.
Wright herself stated that a third film was in the works, but would take some time to materialize. Meanwhile, a new report from MCU News and Updates on X has shed light on the plans for the hit franchise’s third installment. The report suggests that Wright’s Shuri will be the Black Panther for the third installment while Dr. Victor Von Doom, aka Doctor Doom, will serve as the primary antagonist.
It also states that Shuri and Doctor Doom will come to blows with each other as a war emerges between Wakanda and the US over the natural resources of the African nation, particularly Vibranium. The report also cites Shuri and Doctor Doom’s comic book history, which saw them fight during the Doom Wars event in the comics, as an inspiration for Black Panther 3.
Cillian Murphy’s Doctor Doom Could Make His MCU Debut in Black Panther 3
The report from MCU News and Updates states that Marvel plans to introduce Doctor Doom sooner rather than later. The character was heavily rumored to be seen as the replacement of Kang the Conqueror after actor Jonathan Majors was fired by the studio.
Meanwhile, actor Cillian Murphy has been a popular fan-casting for the role of Doctor Doom and was rumored to be the studio’s top choice for the role. While the new report does not confirm whether Murphy is in talks to star in Black Panther 3, it used a fan poster of the actor as Doctor Doom, which you can check out above.
