Thorne’s character in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Riri Williams, is always linked to Tony Stark despite the lack of connection between the two characters. Although they never met in any of the Marvel films that came out in the past years, Downey Jr. provided genuine advice for Thorne.

Ironheart Star Dominique Thorne Shared Robert Downey Jr’s Advice On Becoming Riri Williams

Speaking with The Direct, Dominique Thorne revealed her interaction with the Iron Man actor. She said their conversation was very timely because she is currently working on her upcoming Disney+ series.

You know, it was actually a really great conversation. And I think the timing of it especially was what was probably the most significant. This was right at the tail-end of filming. So obviously, I’m sure, as you can imagine, it was such a whirlwind one.”

Thorne also said that Downey Jr. did not really give her any advice in the beginning, perhaps due to the lack of connection or interaction between their characters.

So, he and I didn’t really have much chance to connect prior to, but maybe that worked out pretty well, because, actually, the first thing he said in our conversation, or toward the end of the conversation, was that he didn’t have any advice for me.”

Before fans could react and feel dismayed, Downey Jr. actually said more after that and it gave Thorne the hint that it is the advice she was waiting for.

And he shared a lot about… making sure that Riri is her own person, and all of the things that I can obviously attribute to her existence, and what it means, and what it represents, and what it can offer… Really just in the vein of being authentic to that, and true to that, and nurturing that. And then, I think, the second half, I have to keep near and dear to my heart.”

In the end, Thorne realized that the actor actually did give her “words of encouragement”:

He definitely gave me a piece… some, some words of encouragement for… as I continue to navigate all that this life could be, which I appreciate. But yeah, it was, it was a good conversation for sure.”

Robert Downey Jr. portrayed Iron Man in the most iconic and phenomenal way. His advice for Dominique Thorne will go a long way, as the future looks bright for the actress and her MCU character.

Fans would absolutely give up everything to see Downey Jr.’s Iron Man on screen again. Tony Stark and Riri Williams have a lot in common, except for a link that would connect the two genius characters.

Many asked if Marvel can give Iron Man a cameo in the upcoming Ironheart series. Given his fate at the end of Avengers: Endgame, it would only be achievable through innovative solutions.

As we see it, the only probable method is to bring him through flashbacks or artificial intelligence. Besides, Riri created a suit with an AI that is based on Stark’s legacy.
