The ardent fans of Ben Affleck will know about the gigantic colorful Phoenix tattoo on his back. While it is an object of fascination for many, not the same can be said for his wives as both of them have a common perception of it.

During an interview with Vanity Fair, when Affleck’s Pearl Harbor co-star and ex-wife was asked about his Phoenix tattoo, she replied with a wink:

“You know what we would say in my hometown about that? ‘Bless his heart.’ A phoenix rising from the ashes. Am I the ashes in this scenario? I take umbrage. I refuse to be the ashes.”

Similar to the interview which was taken after Jennifer Garner‘s separation with Ben Affleck, the reply was also well appreciated by many. But the saga didn’t stop there, as his present wife Jennifer Lopez publicly admitted that she felt the tattoo to be “awful”. According to her statement in Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, such colorful tattoos don’t look cool on the Air actor.

“It’s awful! I mean, I would tell him that. I would tell him like, ‘What are you doing?’ It has too many colours. His tattoos always have too many colours. They shouldn’t be so colourful, you know what I mean? They should be, like, cooler, I don’t know.”

However, the 50-year-old actor disagreed with both of the Jennifers and expressed that the tattoo was of great importance to him.

“It’s something I sort of kept private. It wasn’t like I was sort of doing photoshoots or whatever. We were two hours north of the city on some island in Hawaii and we didn’t know paparazzi was there. So they got a picture of my tattoo and yeah, the sentiment ran, you know, against [it].”

He added that the Phoenix tattoo meant something to him and he liked it very much- It’s meaningful to me. I like it.”
