Elden Ring is the pinnacle of the Soulslike genre and the gaming community has nothing but positive things to say about the game. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki single-handedly carried the genre skyrocketed to new heights and inspired a new generation of players to not falter in any difficult challenge.

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a perfect video game. Every video game regardless of genre will hide some bugs and errors for the gaming community to discover, and there is one prevailing issue that has yet to be fixed by the game developers that is driving the player base insane.

FromSoftware might have cracked the code to develop the perfect Soulslike game; however, it does not mean future projects in active development are immune from unforeseen technical setbacks. The genre forged this generation of players through fire and some are a cut above the rest like DeadlyPG who finished Elden Ring with only voice commands.

Some players are naturally skilled and some trained hard to get to where they are today, some players like to believe that patience, discipline, and power are all the necessities one would need to play a Soulslike game. Unfortunately, it also greatly depends on whether the game is running up to standard without any prevailing bugs and issues like the unrealistic reach of Margit, the Fell Omen.

Other players feel differently about the unique character design and attack patterns of specific enemies that have grown to become a nuisance. Some players dread the rare few times they encounter annoying enemies and the hitbox issue randomly kicks in making the experience far more grueling and harder than it should be.

Some fans are making the most of the situation and are cracking jokes; however, it would be nice if the game developers take a second look and see if they could make the necessary adjustments before it drives the player base insane. It can be annoying, especially for players who are playing more defensively and doing their best to keep their distance affected by a weird hitbox.

The game was released two years ago and the developers managed to release the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion in a near-perfect state. It wouldn’t hurt to dive back in and see what other improvements could be added to protect new players from experiencing this unfortunate bug.

The artificial intelligence featured in the latest entry of the Soulslike franchise is rather impressive. The enemies will adjust their aim to intentionally hit a player which is a testament to their adaptability and strength. Perhaps the developers could compromise their aim and make the necessary changes to the hitbox.

There is a strong likelihood that the gaming community will feel discouraged from playing a game if it is not working as intended or accurately depicts their actions. The player can keep their distance for as far as they like and still get hit because of the hitbox problem and it wouldn’t be a fun experience.

Players will feel cheated if this issue persists and it will dissuade them from trying more Soulslike games. It is no secret that enemies pack quite a punch and it is not ideal to keep getting hit if a player wants to advance.

FromSoftware should reconsider taking another look at the range and reach of certain enemy attacks. Miyazaki wanted to give the community a unique experience but this bug is a hurdle.
