After Boruto went on a hiatus, the fans were eagerly waiting for its return. Unfortunately, since then, there has been no news about the anime coming back. But, the manga has been progressive with massive developments. The story had a four-year time skip, and thanks to Eida’s ability, everyone’s feelings and thoughts about Boruto and Kawaki were interchanged.

As a result, Boruto became the most wanted criminal in the shinobi world on the grounds of killing the Seventh Hokage. Even though there has been such a change in the manga, one character seemed to never get the attention it deserves. The mentioned character is Mitsuki. The anime gave him the screen time he deserved, but the manga was not so kind to him. As a result, fans have often hated the manga.

Mitsuki Changed the Dynamics Between the Anime and the Manga

Mitsuki was first introduced alongside Boruto. He is the son of one of the most heinous criminals in Konoha’s history, Orochimaru. They were both on Team 7. Mitsuki respected him and considered him a true friend. The anime showed several fillers, and one of them was on Mitsuki. It helped in relaying Mitsuki’s background to the audience. He considered himself the ‘Moon’ and Boruto as the ‘Sun.’

It is a direct reference to how the moon lights up the night sky by using the sunlight’s reflection. Thanks to the fillers, the audience got a pretty good idea of how Mitsuki is as a person. On the other hand, the manga always focused on the protagonist and rarely had any time for Mitsuki. Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 7 revealed the fateful meeting between Mitsuki and Boruto. Due to his memories being altered, he feels hatred towards Boruto and respects Kawaki.

During their conversation, Mitsuki began to question his decision about his friend since something felt off. Boruto took the ‘Sun’ and ‘Moon’ reference and told him Kawaki is not so much of the ‘Sun’ that he was dependent on. Even though Mitsuki thinks him to be a villain and even attacks him, he is beginning to doubt himself. The manga failed to show the connection between Mitsuki, Boruto, and Kawaki.

As a result, it feels completely unrelated when both of them are using references to talk. A proper introduction would have helped to relay the tension between them to the audience. Their bond, experience, journey, etc., all feel incomplete. For that reason, fans often dislike the manga compared to the anime. It failed to hold up the dynamics, and Mitsuki’s introduction showcased it.

Boruto and Mitsuki had always been close. Thanks to Orochimaru’s experiments, Mitsuki could use Sage Jutsu from a young age. After the time skips, he grew up to be pretty strong. His encounter with his best friend got the readers excited. Mitsuki did not waste time and attacked first. Even though he was strong, Boruto’s progress was much higher than his. He had mastery over each of his techniques.

Mitsuki also admitted that he was strong, considering he made Code retreat. Two Blue Vortex has got into the serious phase of the story, with Naruto and Sasuke out of the picture. Everything now depends on the main protagonist. Masashi Kishimoto returned to help Mikio Ikemoto, and the manga soon began to garner more readers.

But it needs to give proper background details before rushing in any important character. In this regard, the anime was better, and the manga faced backlash. Hopefully, the creators would do something about the manga being hated so much.
