Naruto Uzumaki has inspired millions of people throughout the journey of his life. From being treated as an outcast to being the Hokage of Konohagakure has left people with tears at the corner of their eyes. But his journey was not easy. The Naruto franchise has beautifully portrayed how hard it is to fulfill one’s dream and how staying true to its path can help people achieve it. Even in Boruto anime, the Seventh Hokage does his best to prevail in peace throughout.
His wife, Hinata Hyuga, is always there to support him. But on his way to becoming Hokage, he lost several people who were close to him. One of the most notable ones was Neji. He was the cousin brother to Hinata Hyuga and one of Naruto’s closest friends. Neither of the two forgot him and paid him respect by naming Boruto after him.
Naruto and Hinata’s Homage To Neji
Neji was one of the most talented shinobi in the Naruto franchise. He belonged to the Hyuga Clan. Even though he was much more talented than Hinata, he was sidelined by the Hyuga clan because he was the son of the younger brother of the leader. Only the people from the main branch of the family and their offspring could lead the clan.
But through Naruto’s influence, he came back to the right path. During the Fourth Great Ninja War Neji laid down his life to protect him. Since he was one of their best friends, the couple decided to name their first child after him. Neji in Japanese means ‘screw’. As a result, Naruto and Hinata named their son Boruto, which means ‘bolt’. Bolt and screw are the same thing and are used for connecting.
It was Masashi Kishimoto’s idea of paying homage to Neji Hyuga. Most people might have missed it since they become too engrossed in the main story. Even though they missed it, it is a beautiful connection between the two.

Boruto manga is going through a great transition phase. His father became a hero from being treated as an outcast, but Boruto, even though he was the son of the Seventh Hokage, was left out of the village. He became a rogue ninja, just like Sasuke Uchiha. The Hokage and his wife have been sealed away by Kawaki, and Shikamaru Nara is currently acting as the Eighth Hokage.
Screws and bolts are used for connecting things. Naruto Shippuden had its way of connecting things, while Boruto had its way of connecting things. It is only the beginning of Boruto Uzumaki’s journey, and he has a long way to go. Both Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto will try their best to bring justice to the name that Naruto and Hinata gave based on their late beloved friend.
