There are many games that Hidetaka Miyazaki as the president of FromSoftware has released till now, with many of them even managing to steal all the spotlight for themselves, becoming the star of the show at the time of their release. While primarily known for its franchises based in the Dark Fantasy genre, there is another video game series done well by the studio but remains overshadowed.
The Armored Core franchise also happens to be Miyazaki’s first franchise, as he led the developing team on the production of Armored Core: The Last Raven back in 2005. The director ultimately stuck to making Soulslike games after the release of Demon’s Souls, allowing other talents such as Masaru Yamamura to take the lead on the before-stated franchise and bring it to new heights, even creating better boss battles than Miyazaki himself.
Armored Core VI – The Hidden Gem Of FromSoftware
It is essentially the Armored Core franchise that helps the studio keep a distinct identity from all the Soulsborne titles. It also happens to have its own fan base, that has been demanding another release in the franchise as the last installment blew any expectations that gamers held out of the water.
Talking about how Boss Battles remain one of the best elements of the game, Masaru Yamamura stated the following, as noted by IGN.
Boss battles are the highlight of the game in this title, The essence of the battles, in which the player reads the enemy’s moves and then plays games with them, is of course provided, as is typical of FromSoftware. In this title, both the enemy and your own machine are aggressive and violent in their attacks. We are developing the game so that players can enjoy the dynamic and intense boss battles that only mechas can offer, along with the unique aspects of AC, such as how to assemble the right parts to take on the strongest enemies.
Yamamura mentions how the battles of the latest AC release remain the same as other games from the studio. However, in this title particularly, your own mecha as well as your opponent’s remains aggressive while attacking, setting a new standard of intensity a mecha boss battle can deliver.
Is Hidetaka Miyazaki Coming Back For Armored Core VII?
Many gamers around the globe are now anticipating the release of Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, which happens to be FromSoftware’s biggest expansion to date. It also begs the question of what Hidetaka Miyazaki might be planning to do after he finally catches his breath again and has time to come up with something new.
Fortunately, the director has hinted in another interview how he might be willing to come back and direct another game in the said franchise one more time, stepping back into what once was the first video game series he ever worked in.
Armored Core VI is available to purchase on Steam.
