However, as absurd as it may sound, some actors turned down the offer of featuring in one of Christopher Nolan’s masterpieces. These actors were none other than the former popular celebrity couple, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

One of the most acclaimed directors of all time, Christopher Nolan started his film career in 1998 with Following. Although it didn’t turn out to be that exceptional, the world was surprised with what came next from the mind of Nolan. In 2000, Nolan surprised everyone with a mind-bender movie, Memento.

Nolan revealed that even though Brad Pitt genuinely loved the script, he couldn’t sign the agreement papers due to a tight schedule (via Yahoo! Movies). Not just Pitt, Angelina Jolie too missed out on working with Nolan on Memento. With an impressive audition in front of Nolan, Carrie-Anne Moss replaced Angelina Jolie (via X). 

The thriller movie has 94% on Rotten Tomatoes even after almost 24 years of its release. However, there’s a more surprising fact about the movie. Christopher Nolan initially wished to cast Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie for the movie. Unfortunately, both of them couldn’t fulfill the wish of the director. When Guy Pearce came to know about the script and read it (via Empire). He was so impressed with it that he called Nolan to make his interest known and got the role.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Are Not the Only Actors Who Rejected Christopher Nolan’s Movies

Fans will be surprised to know that not just Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, but a few more actors too didn’t take much interest in being part of Christopher Nolan‘s film bubble. From Hollywood to Bollywood, numerous actors have rejected the Tenet director’s movies.

When we talk about famous villains in the cinema world, we always talk about Joker in The Dark Knight. However, Heath Ledger was previously approached by Nolan to star in Batman Begins(2005) but he rejected the offer. Before finally playing the iconic role in The Dark Knight, Ledger said (via Indie Wire):

“I would never take a part in a superhero film.”

One of the finest Indian actors, Irrfan Khan, was proposed to work with Nolan for the superhit film, Interstellar (via Indie Wire). However, Irrfan Khan rejected the offer with a heavy heart. Khan mentioned that the movie demanded him to stay in the USA for a very long time at a single stretch which was not suitable for his other commitments.
