Everyone knew that Brendan Fraser was indeed a terrific actor right from when he starred in the 1992 teen-comedy Encino Man and the teen drama from the same year, School Ties. But after his tremendous performance in almost every film that came since, the actor disappeared from Hollywood for five years in 2014 and earned his first lead role after returning from his break with the 2022 masterpiece, The Whale.
While this film has not only granted him his first-ever Oscar for his breathtaking-beyond-expressable performance, it seems Fraser has finally returned to the big screens for good as he reportedly makes his third comeback since his break with his next role in Searchlight’s comedy, Rental Family.
Brendan Fraser Making His Third Comeback With Rental Family
Brendan Fraser surprised everyone–even himself–with his first-ever Oscar win earlier at this year’s Academy Awards for his first-class performance in his 2022 epic blockbuster, The Whale. And now, months after bagging the accolade, he is all set to make his third comeback to the big screen.
As per reports, after the SAG-AFTRA strike conclusion, the George of the Jungle alum has finally zeroed in on his next big role and will be reportedly seen next in Searchlight’s Rental Family. Filmmaker best known for directing Beef, Hikari will reportedly be helming this movie after having been in charge of the development of the project since 2019.
The plotline of the film circles around a destitute actor from Tokyo who gets hired by a Japanese rental-family company as a token American guy, following which he embarks on his journey of self-discovery through the roles he plays in others’ lives.
With the movie’s production starting this spring in Japan, and Stephen Blahut (co-writer of the script) and Tomo Koizumi overseeing the project as the executive producers, it seems Brendan Fraser’s upcoming Rental Family will be another star-studded addition to his resume.
The Whale Earned Brendan Fraser A Huge Win In Several Accolades
Although Brendan Fraser returned to the big screens after a five-year break, his comeback with his leading role in The Whale was as strong as though he never really left. In fact, his epic transformation for this movie certainly paid off as his hard work was acknowledged in full.
Not only did the movie earn him his first-ever Oscar for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role, but he also got nominated for 61 other accolades for the same title out of which he bagged 24 whopping awards, including one for the Critics Choice Awards!
Furthermore, his performance as W. S. Hamilton in Martin Scorsese‘s most recent 2023 blockbuster Killers of the Flower Moon has further joined him in the field of this year’s Best Picture contenders as well.
Thanks to his complete disappearance from Hollywood’s entertainment industry for a while, Brendan Fraser has come out stronger and better than ever with even more impressively delightful performances than ever before!
