As a newcomer in the film industry, Vellani might have felt a little pressured coming off from working on the small screen. She starred in Disney+’s Ms. Marvel, which was a huge success for the studio. Now that she’s debuting on the big screen, the actress could use a little encouragement from her veteran co-stars.

Brie Larson Applied The Lesson She Learned From Scarlett Johansson After Meeting Iman Vellani

Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, actress Brie Larson talked about her newest project, The Marvels, and how she was first welcomed by Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson when she first joined the MCU as Captain Marvel. Larson stated:

I just think being a superhero is like a weird specific job. I felt really lucky because the first time I played Captain Marvel was on Avengers. Scarlett Johansson was the first person who welcomed me, and I got to be there with all of them.”

Fallon revealed Larson was the first person from the cast of The Marvels who congratulated Iman Vellani after she got the part. The Fast X star confirmed this and explained how Johansson and the cast of Avengers taught her a lesson about being approachable and helpful to fellow actors. She further said:

To have them, not just welcome me in, but also just be like, ‘You’ve got this,’ and answer all my questions – it was just so invaluable. So, I just make a point whenever somebody… when I read that someone’s a superhero, I just be like, ‘If you want info, I’m here.’ I’m not like actually Carol Danvers who’s always super busy. I’m fine, you can talk to me.”

Larson is quite knowledgeable about the struggles of actors when it comes to playing superheroes, and she’s very much willing to help out a fellow star, especially a newcomer like Vellani.

Iman Vellani shared on Etalk how Brie Larson provided a sense of comfort to her when she finally joined the billion-dollar franchise. The 21-year-old actress admitted she felt overwhelmed with all the attention she was receiving, but having someone who has gone through a similar experience reassured her that she would be fine. Vellani said:

She called me a couple of days after I got the part, and we just had an incredible heart-to-heart. This world has changed her life so much, and Marvel just brings an incredible amount of attention to anybody joining the universe, so that’s quite intimidating, especially for a person who has zero attention, and now I’m getting all of it. It’s super overwhelming, but it’s kind of nice to have people like her in my corner who’ve experienced that on such a grand scale.”

Larson also told Vellani that the overwhelming feeling is shared by many, which made the Ms. Marvel actress feel that her reactions towards it are valid and natural.

The Marvels is now showing in theaters worldwide.
