Julian Sands is reportedly missing after hiking up Mount Baldy in Southern California. The authorities are searching for the actor after his family informed them of his disappearance. San Bernardino County Sheriff Department Corporal Nathan Campos revealed that Sands was missing around 7:30 pm on Friday, January 13.
The British actor appeared in various film projects such as Warlock, Leaving Las Vegas, and A Room with a View, and was part of the ensemble cast of Ocean’s Thirteen. He lives in North Hollywood.

The authorities spoke with People and said that rescuers are looking for him around the Baldy Bowl area:
“A search crew was sent out, but because of weather conditions, they were pulled on Saturday. Helicopters and drones will be out there to continue to search, weather permitting.”
The place is a popular spot for hikers and skiers, but the extreme winter weather in California hinders the immediate search around Mt. Baldy. Rescuers had to be pulled off the mount for their own safety. Now, authorities resorted to using drones to continue the search. They also advise the public to stay away from the area since avalanche cases are quite high.
“It’s extremely dangerous, and experienced hikers are having a hard time getting through there.”
There was also a missing hiker reported on Monday in the San Gabriel mountains. The police have also arranged a search and rescue operation.
“Over the last four weeks, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue (SAR) Teams have responded to 14 rescue missions on Mt Baldy and in the surrounding area. These rescue missions have been for lost, stranded, and/or injured hikers. Unfortunately, during these past 4 weeks, two hikers did not survive after falling and injuring themselves.”
Just days before Sand’s disappearance, a woman slipped and fell to her death in the same area. Police noted that the weather is extremely dangerous.

The actor describes himself as the happiest when he is surrounded by mountains, especially on a cold morning. Last time he had a near-death experience while hiking was in the 90s in the Andes when they were caught by a storm. Some of his co-hikers died.
