Spider-Man: Homecoming actor Tom Holland is taking a year off from acting

Tom Holland will be soon seen in a psychological drama limited series The Crowded Room. In the promotional interviews, the Uncharted actor is seen openly talking about the distressing effect the role had on him. In an interview with Extra, the actor shared that his role as Danny Sullivan has been very upsetting, and wishes to take a break from acting.

Tom Holland talked about making The Crowded Room,

“‘It was a tough time, for sure. We were exploring certain emotions that I have definitely never experienced before. And then on top of that, being a producer, dealing with the day-to-day problems that come with any film set, just added that extra level of pressure. I’m now taking a year off, and that is a result of how difficult this show was.”

The actor also shared in the interview that the TV series has made him serious about sobriety and mental health awareness.

He shared with EW,

“I was seeing myself in him [Danny], but in my personal life. I remember having a bit of a meltdown at home and thinking, like, ‘I’m going to shave my head. I need to shave my head because I need to get rid of this character.’ And, obviously, we were mid-shooting, so I decided not to… It was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before.”

The timing for the break seems perfect as the shoot for Spider-Man 4 is delayed due to the ongoing writer’s strike.
