Forget glass slippers; Disney’s live-action Snow White is rocking glass heels with a price tag bigger than Ariel’s coral castle! Whispers of a ballooning budget surpassing even The Little Mermaid have fans wondering—is this fairytale a happily ever after, or a box office disaster?

Zegler’s modern Snow promises a twist, but with costs skyrocketing, Disney better hope this magic mirror reflects box-office gold, not box-office doom! Get ready, folks; this fairytale might just get Grimm.

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall, Is Disney’s Snow White About to Fall?

Disney’s live-action Snow White remake is a nightmare. Rumors, delays—the magic mirror may reflect a box office disaster. First off, a year-long postponement. To calm the rumor mill, Disney unveiled a photo of Rachel Zegler as Snow White with the dwarfs (CGI or the real deal? TBD). But whispers turned to screams with reports of a rushed photo and characters destined for reshoots.

Now, the plot thickens. Mail Online drops a $330M budget bomb, with Disney scrambling to save a potential turkey. And the budget’s gotta be huge. An insider spills the tea: Disney’s freaking out, fearing a flop that could torpedo future remakes and Snow White sequels. Apparently, Tom Hooper’s Cats (remember the critically panned nightmare?) is their “what not to do” manual.

Learning from mistakes is the name of the game. Remember Sonic the Hedgehog’s social media meltdown over his initial design? Yeah, Disney wants to avoid that. Cats (yes, Taylor Swift’s one) is another cautionary tale. “They need time to figure things out,” whispers another source on the SAG-AFTRA strike. Oh, and there’s more! Apparently, Disney also needs time to produce toys? Yep, toy marketing needs a good dwarf look.

Adding to the drama, Peter Dinklage’s comments resurface. He disliked the film’s dwarfism portrayal (progressive casting, outmoded plot). “Literally no offense, but I was a little taken aback. Why cast a Latina actress when telling the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” he said on his podcast WTF.

With that being said, will Snow White be a blockbuster or a warning? Time (and possibly a budget check) will tell. But for now, the fairytale reshoots are finally over.

Reshoots Wrapped! But Is Disney’s Snow White Mirror Still Cracked?

Some good news for Disney’s live-action Snow White remake! Rachel Zegler just announced on IG that those pesky reshoots are finally done. Filming originally finished last summer, but like many blockbusters, Snow White needed extra takes to sparkle for its March 2025 premiere.

This news comes after Gal Gadot, our Evil Queen extraordinaire (think Wonder Woman, but wicked), hinted at reshoots with a director’s chair pic on her Instagram. Zegler, who landed the Snow White role before her West Side Story stardom, didn’t spill the tea on what was reshot. But hey, reshoots are normal—filmmakers are just polishing the magic mirror, you know?

Remember that year-long delay? Blame the Writers Guild and SAG-AFTRA strikes last summer. Snow White‘s been a long time coming! Speaking of a long time, director Marc Webb (pre-pandemic The Amazing Spider-Man films) boarded the project way back when.

Fun fact: Webb also directed the oddball rom-com (500) Days of Summer. So, can he enchant this fairytale as well? Wait and watch if Snow White bites the box office poison apple or becomes a Disney classic.

Snow White is all set to premiere in March 2025 on Hotstar and Amazon Prime.
