Ever since Rocksteady unleashed Suicide Squad on the gaming world, DC fans have started to gain a little more appreciation for another recent game based on the comics’ characters. Although the reception for Gotham Knights was mixed when it was released nearly two years ago, WB Games Montreal’s title is being considered relatively better than the latest take on Task Force X.

Now, it seems like the developer is working on its next game, and despite the lack of hope from the community, it can’t do much worse than the disappointment that the original Arkhamverse studio recently came up with.

DC Fans Need Something Nice to Wash Away the Bitter Aftertaste of Suicide Squad

Who would have thought that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League would be even worse than Gotham Knights?

WB Games Montreal is currently hiring for the position of Creative Director at the studio, and the job description provides a couple of hints regarding what to expect from the developer’s currently untitled video game. Whoever gets hired “will play an essential role in establishing and executing the vision of a popular franchise in the interactive AAA space,” which could mean that the developer may be adapting yet another DC story.

There have already been reports of it taking a detour from the multiplayer aspects of Gotham Knights, as the studio may finally return to its Batman: Arkham Origins single-player glory days.

Along with that, it has also been previously reported that WB Montreal might be creating the upcoming DC video game using Unreal Engine 5, something that both Kill the Justice League and Gotham Knights didn’t have the pleasure of having as they were developed with Unreal Engine 4.

Another hint about the developer’s next project is given by the qualifications and experience required for the Creative Director role, as one has to be an “expert in next-generation AAA action/adventure games,” which means that the studio is heading back to a genre it is familiar with.

Warner Bros. and DC fans definitely need a win in the gaming landscape, as it has been a while since something extraordinary was released based on the comics, and this might be it.

From Returning to Batman to Trying out Superman, WB Montreal Could Do a Lot With Its New Game

WB Games Montreal could emerge as the saving grace DC video games so desperately need.

The hiring news eventually made its way to the Gotham Knights subreddit, where DC fans discussed which character they would want the upcoming game to revolve around. Some gamers want WB Montreal to try another hand at the Dark Knight since the majority of Batman’s mainline titles have been enjoyable.

Others want the developer to give other major characters a chance, such as Superman or The Flash.

One thing is for sure, though. Whatever WB Montreal comes up with, it really can’t be any worse than Rocksteady’s Kill the Justice League. Or can it?
