According to The Things, Calista Flockhart reportedly dated Robert Downey Jr., although the rumor was never confirmed. They both starred in Ally McBeal as each other’s love interest. Insiders revealed that they tend to flirt on the set and were rumored to be dating.
The two actors had great chemistry in the series, and it even earned Downey Jr. a Golden Globe for his role. Unfortunately, he was fired from the show due to controversies involving drugs.
The actor was credited for reviving the audience’s interest in the show, and his last episode gave the series its best ratings. However, due to his absence, show creator David E. Kelly was forced to write his character out for the final episode.
After his rehabilitation, the Iron Man star became sober in 2003. He also managed to revive his career when he finally joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008.

Harrison Ford’s Marriage History Before Meeting Calista Flockhart
Harrison Ford was hitched before he met Calista Flockhart. The Han Solo star was married to illustrator Mary Marquardt from 1964 to 1979, with whom he had two children. The actor was reportedly unfaithful during his marriage with Marquardt and has been known to have dated several women, including Carrie Fisher. The actress confirmed it in her 2017 memoir, in which she later revealed a huge regret.
After his first failed marriage, Ford met screenwriter Melissa Mathison, with whom he had two more children. It was another unsuccessful attempt in searching for his happily ever after. His second divorce was soon followed by another fleeting romance with British actress Minnie Driver.
Ford and Flockhart’s love story began after meeting at the 59th Golden Globe Awards in 2002. The actor once told Hello! Magazine:
“I’m in love. Romantic love is one of the most exciting and fulfilling kinds of love, and I think there is a potential for it at any stage of your life. I was not surprised that I was able to fall in love, and I wasn’t surprised that I did.”
The couple’s 22-year age gap never bothered Flockhart. She admitted it never affected anything in their relationship:
“It doesn’t faze me. Sometimes I even say, ‘Wow, I keep forgetting that he’s 22 years older than me.’ It doesn’t factor into our relationship at all. I like the way he looks first thing in the morning. It’s not handsome, it’s more cute. He looks like a little boy.”
It would have made a whole lot of difference in the order of things had Downey Jr. and Flockhart officially become a couple. Perhaps everything that occurred during their short-lived fling was destiny’s way of allowing people to meet the right person.
