Zack Snyder’s time over at the DC Studios will never be forgotten by his fans and neither will his DCEU trilogy which includes, Man of Steel, Dawn of Justice, and Justice League. Ever since the filmmaker left the superhero universe to move onto bigger and better things, fans have been hoping that he’d one day return to direct some of their favorite superheroes at least one more time. As of now though, this seems like a far-fetched dream.

Out of the entire trilogy, the Knightmare sequences seem to be some of the most beloved and iconic to the fans, and rightly so. However, the scenes almost never made it to the screens as Warner Bros. executives were not very keen on keeping them in the film. Luckily, Zack Snyder had the perfect response for them which led to the scenes not getting cut.

During an interview, Zack Snyder revealed that Warner Bros. wanted all of the Knightmare sequences to be cut from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Whatever may be the reason behind their desire, Snyder knew he wanted the scenes to be kept in the films. The problem was, how could he get the executives to agree? Well, he had the perfect response to their demands.

Snyder told them that he had shot the scenes in IMAX and that if they wanted it out of the films, they could call IMAX up themselves.

“All of the Knightmare sequences tried desperately to get out of the film…The only reason they left it in was because we shot it in IMAX. I was like ‘Oh, you wanna cut all the IMAX out, that’s great. Call IMAX and tell them that.”

In the end, the studios had to give in to Snyder’s wishes and fans got to see his iconic vision come to life.

Talking about Snyder’s Justice League, the filmmaker stated that there was no way the film could have ended without Ben Affleck’s Batman and Jared Leto’s Joker coming face to face with each other.

Talking to Yahoo! Sports, Snyder said,

“The Batman and Joker relationship is so element to both character, and if I never make another DC film, I felt it was rude not to have done a scene with the two of them.”

Since Warner Bros. was not too excited about the idea, Snyder had to come up with a backup plan. He revealed that he was ready to shoot the scenes in his own backyard by putting up green screens.

“Originally the studio said, ‘Now we don’t want that,’ but I was like, ‘I’m going to do it anyway.’ I was going to put up some green screens and shoot it in my backyard.”

Luckily, Snyder didn’t have to resort to this little DIY mission and got to fulfill his vision with utmost perfection.
