Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the next instalment in the series line-up, is set to launch in October of this year, and we already know of some new features we can expect. However, there is an ongoing legal issue that may require Activision Blizzard to make some last-minute changes to the arsenal.

With off-brand names now populating the many lists in the game, fans are expressing their disappointment at the development. However, is this as big an issue in a game series that features zombies and has simulated warfare beyond anything humanity has achieved?

The issue allegedly began with a lawsuit filed by the families of the Uvalde School tragedy. The suit alleges that the game is the “most prolific and effective marketer of assault weapons in the United States.” It is reportedly due to this lawsuit that Call of Duty is changing gun names.

This seems like a reasonable action, and while the effectiveness is questionable, it seems it is affecting the current player base. Redditor cR_Spitfire claims Call of Dutyhasn’t felt the same.”

Anyone else very sad that we’ll probably never see iconic gun names like the Skorpion, Galil, Dragunov, or AK-47 ever again due to new laws?

Now, the guns function the same as they always have, and they are not nerfed. The only change has been their names, which shouldn’t be a big issue, and some who replied to the comments agree.

However, there are some reasons why the decision can be confusing for many players at first. Comparing load-outs and discussing the better gun has become a ritual for Call of Duty fans, and with Modern Warfare III now coming to Xbox Game Pass, such conversations are only going to grow.

The change doesn’t seem to have affected everyone’s perception, though, as many players are just able to understand which gun is being discussed.

It might just be initial growing pains for the new names, and over time fans will get accustomed to them as they use them more in discussions. It doesn’t look like Call of Duty will go back on their decision, so this is what we’re working with now!

There are some new features fans can expect that should make the game more interesting. The first, and most talked about, is the Black Ops 6 Omnimovement feature, which should allow for an entirely new way to experience the game and move around the map.

Activision Blizzard has stated that Omnimovement will greatly enhance player mobility, allowing them to sprint in any direction and dive from any angle, and also turn evasive maneuvers into offensive ones by shooting as they dive.

The best part is that this feature is going to be coming to Warzone as well! It’s going to be interesting to see its implementation in the battle royale, given how competitive that game can get.
