Activision has entrusted this year’s entry to two game developers which is not common practice and it means there is a possibility that it could be twice as fun. Fans can get critical over something they do not like and early gameplay footage is already being torn to shreds.

Activision spent years keeping the franchise afloat and relevant amidst all the new fierce competition in the modern age when online multiplayer and live service games are all the rage. The gaming community has high hopes for this year’s entry and hopes to see older features like the gore return in Black Ops 6 to augment the experience even better.

It is hard to keep up with the community’s expectations and the recent leak of gameplay footage for this year’s Call of Duty is bad news bearers, particularly, the new heads-up display hovering on the upper left side of the screen. Not everyone was a fan of the classic design that appears to have been taken from decades into the past.

It is worth noting that this is a glimpse of an early build and there is a high probability that this won’t even be in the final product, however, the gaming community was taken aback after seeing the atrocious design of the new HUD and it is the last thing they expected to see for an upcoming triple-A game made for the current generation.

Treyarch and Raven Software will feature a new advanced movement system known as the omnidirectional movement, an exciting new feature that could push the boundaries of the franchise. However, it seems like that is the only advanced feature the duo has come up with while leaving out other essential features like the heads-up display.

Some players loved the original design of the head-up display from the previous Black Ops games and would not mind reusing them for this year’s entry. Perhaps the developers underestimated the importance of other features and how the gaming community would react.

The heads-up display is an important feature used in multiplayer lobbies and it would not hurt to add a modernized touch. The setting of the upcoming game is set in the past, perhaps the developers could be trying to appeal to that specific period.

It is easy to forget that this is all early gameplay footage from an earlier build, perhaps the developers made the necessary changes. There are still a few months before launch that could buy the developers enough time to make adjustments.

Nolan North teased that the new trailer for Black Ops 6 will blow the collectible minds of the gaming community. Perhaps it is best not to judge the game from a leaked clip not shared by the developers to be passed around and judged.

Fans have high hopes for the franchise, especially for the current generation. The heads-up display can be easily improved and tailored for modern hardware and the developers can charge this to experience and avoid going too far into the past.

Hopefully, the developers will have this sorted before launch day and avoid giving critics something to chew on. Call of Duty players have been waiting for quite a while and deserve a great game.
