Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 May Be Bringing 1 Character Back From the Dead, but it’s Pointless Without the ‘goated’ Actor Returning to Voice Him Again

That voice in Mason's head, we all loved it!

SUMMARY

  • Viktor Reznov first appeared in World at War and has become an iconic character since.
  • While it is believed that the character died during the escape from Vorkuta, there's no solid proof of that.
  • It hasn't been confirmed, but Mason's hallucinatory friend might be returning in Black Ops 6.

With the upcoming Call of Duty video game, players will finally get to see the inclusion of former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and maybe the militant leader Osama Bin Laden. That’s one of the things for fans to get excited for; the other remains the return of iconic character Viktor Reznov, the hallucinatory friend of Alex Mason from the Black Ops series.

But it won’t be fun until he is again voiced by the veteran industry actor, Gary Oldman. The Darkest Hour actor voiced the character in the first two Black Ops games, but Piotr Michael, who also voiced Jason Hudson in Cold War, took the mantle in 2018 for Black Ops 4.

Fans Already Know Who The Best Voice Actor in Call of Duty is

If Disney someday decided to make an animated Pirates of the Caribbean series, people would hardly give love to Jack Sparrow until it was voiced by Johnny Depp. That happens when a veteran actor breathes life into a character and fans start loving it. The same is the case with Black Ops character Viktor Reznov.

Gary Oldman voiced the character during World at War and in the following Black Ops game. As players catch a glimpse of the popular character, the question arises: who will be voicing him if he really makes an appearance in the game?

Of course, a majority of them would want the Dark Knight actor to do the honors again. Users on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) are a testament to this. For instance, a user named Meegle finds him to be the best voice actor for voicing the character.

Another user called bigish41 shares the same belief as he shares a GIF from World at War.

This shows its not just the character’s return that’ll make things better; it needs the soul too.

Oldman’s Voice Should Return if Reznov Makes an Appearance

There’s no one reason for speculating on the actor’s return to the game. First off, he wore the shoes of the character well, as he explained in one of the interviews back in the day. Second, it would be refreshing to hear those battlecries he worked on for hours in the studios. That’s unmatched to this day.

In the grand scheme of things, Reznov’s return will also give the fans a little bit of nostalgia, and Mason’s struggle with his hallucinatory friend while exploring the Gulf War would add some spice to the story. Even during the Cold War, we can see Alex seeing numbers during one of the missions. That indicates something from the past remains.

As the game is said to bring other characters back, Viktor Reznov should be on the list. And while the developers are at it, they should add the original voice to give the players they loved during the Golden Age of Call of Duty.

Whom do you prefer as the voice behind Reznov? We would like to know your thoughts in the comments section below.
