The latest teaser for Black Ops 6 most definitely questions in addition to answering them. It gave gamers a brief glimpse of the majestic monument, Mount Rushmore, being vandalized by a crowd. Another such detail in the teaser was the constant visibility of the slogan, ‘The Truth Lies’.
While these details were much more apparent and visible to anyone who watched the trailer, a fan with a particularly sharp eye noticed an apparition, a silhouette of what appeared to be Viktor Reznov, a legend in the subseries. Below is what was posted on X/Twitter by the fan:
The individual mentioned that this was too vague and foggy to conclude that Reznov was teased in the trailer. Regardless, if the character were to return, it would be another thing that Treyarch would get right about the game.
Reznov’s Return Feasibility as per the Call of Duty Black Ops Lore
Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is shaping up to be excellent so far, at least in the eyes of fans. They are much more confident in Treyarch than any other studio that has developed a game in the franchise. Before reading ahead, readers are cautioned that this may contain spoilers for previous games in the Black Ops subseries.
Reznov appears for the first time in Black Ops during the mission involving Alex Mason’s prison break at Vorkuta, only to disappear at the end. Mason then encounters him on another mission in Hue City, only for him to disappear again. At the end of the game’s campaign, it is revealed that Reznov never made it out of Vorkuta and died there.
His appearance was caused by brainwashing, which led Mason to see Reznov. The only time he appears once again is in Black Ops 2, and it still wasn’t clarified if it was him or it was Mason’s head playing tricks on him, as later in the mission, we see Mason struggling to control himself, and the numbers appear again.
Overall, it isn’t known whether Reznov is dead, and since we have seen other plot twists in the series, this is just as plausible. What do you think of this speculation? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
