Yale Miller, senior director of production, explained that even though the game takes in the 90s, and features the Gulf War. But it is a fiction story and war is just one part of the bigger story.
In classic Zombies fashion we’ll probably go all over the place, and probably play and go different places. We talked about doing locations, specific conflicts, things like that, but generally for us, if Black Ops 6 is good because it encompasses everything that we’re doing, it allows us kind of freedom to go different places.
Matt Scronce, associate Design Director of the game also added to the Miller point by explaining:
Black Ops 6, like every other Black Ops game, is purely fictional. But we do set it in the early ‘90s and it does help [in storytelling] to have those historical touch points.
The developers are renowned for their ability to craft narratives that captivate players. With this installment drawing inspiration from the beloved Zombies, the game’s storytelling is going to surprise many players as they will have to uncover mysteries and piece together the larger puzzle.
