Call of Duty reflects the competitive nature of its gameplay through its marketing. Eager to steal the thunder away from Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the game just revealed a new map that is also taking place in Japan which may be purely coincidental for Modern Warfare 3.

Perhaps the new map was planned long before the Ubisoft reveal and it benefitted Activision by taking advantage of the hype built up. Regardless, the player base has been waiting for new content and the developers are about to deliver a new playground to explore.

It wasn’t long ago when the developers unveiled the first look of a new map designated as Grime, and it was enough to get the blood pumping of competitive players. Each new map is an opportunity to sharpen the skills and get the feel of the overall layout which can be an edge against others.

This new map will most definitely appeal to a larger audience given the popularity of the country. Players can now bask in the beauty and scenery of Tokyo as they take out enemy players and find new hiding spots. It seems like the developers are not holding back as they put out new content before the release of this year’s entry.

The gaming community is thrilled by the representation of Japan in recent gaming projects across different genres and hopes for more to come. Activision happened to share the first look of the map around the same time a rival developer shared a teaser that is also set in the same country and is the cherry on top.

The developers have put a lot of emphasis and effort into delivering new locations for players to jump in and work out their skills. Rebirth Island is a fan favorite and the developers managed to bring it back for Warzone with some massive improvements for players to discover.

While there are no official looks or images have been revealed in terms of biomes or the actual location, the gaming community is optimistic that Activision will honor the aesthetic of the country and create a somewhat realistic approach and feel. Some players fear that the developers would let its laziness get the best of them and they would recycle through older assets.

Japan is a very high-profile country and many projects have done their best to represent it. From films to series, it is only right for the country to be featured as a war-torn battleground for a chaotic battle royale video game.

The latest season is not slowing down any time soon and the developers are taking every ounce of inspiration from any popular media at the time. Perhaps Activision did reveal the new map to spite Ubisoft and piggyback off the hype but the gaming community will embrace it with open arms.
