First introduced in 2019 in India the Call of Duty mobile game was released as a free-to-play game and has been recognised as perhaps one of the largest mobile game launches in history. This led to the game being recognised with awards for ‘Best Game’ in 2019 and 2020 at awards ceremonies and its popularity continues to this day.

Mobile Call of Duty players are angered by the decision

Call of Duty
Developers had to be quick to appease the fan reaction to the removal of maps in the game.

As can be seen below, it has been announced that two maps have been removed from the mobile game. This has only set to anger fans of the mobile game, with many outraged by the decision and regarding it as one of the worst made by developers. It appears that the patience from some Call of Duty players is wearing thin, whether it be on console or mobile and it may be that Devs see player numbers taking a drop following this announcement.

According to many who commented on the original posting on X, Alcatraz is regarded as the best map and it is understandable as to why there is condemnation from fans for this map being removed. In response to this, Devs have come out to appease the fears allayed by fans with reassurances that there will be exciting new content every season.

Call of Duty Warzone mobile game

Call of Duty
The countdown is on to the release of Warzone.

What is exciting for fans of the mobile game is the confirmation that Activision is ready to launch the much anticipated Warzone game on 21 March. With over 50 million pre-registrations for this, there is no doubt that fans cannot wait to experience this and perhaps this will soften the blow of losing maps.

There had been rumours that with the launch of the Warzone mobile game, this meant that its predecessor would be phased, however, at the time of writing these rumours appear to be unfounded. This is evident from the Devs who were quick to come out and reassure fans that there would be continued content throughout every season.

The landscape with Call of Duty is ever-changing and that is evident with players scrambling for the latest meta weapon, so it is no surprise to see the change in maps with the mobile game. Despite the overwhelmingly negative reaction from fans, there is reassurance from Devs that Alcatraz will be returning later in the year and with the launch of Warzone, there is plenty to look forward to.
