Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone welcomed the Season 3 Reloaded update on May 1 and saw the arrival of a new event, new multiplayer maps, brand-new weapons, and much more that have been liked and appreciated by the fans so far.
The recent updates in the game have seen the developers bring back popular things from the past, such as the return of Rebirth Island, among other things, and it seems like there may be more as data miners have found that a fan-favorite weapon is on the list to return in later seasons.
Fan-Favorite Weapon From Call of Duty: Vanguard Is Returning to Warzone
As per data miner BobNetworkUK, the popular meta assault rifle STG44 may be returning to Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone. The leaker has found that the files for the gun have been added to the games, and there are chances that the World War II-era assault rifle might be coming back.
The assault rifle has appeared in several entries of the franchise over the years, and in the original game, it had a different name, MP44. This gun was meta in Vanguard, both in Caldera and multiplayer, and if it is set to return, a meta change seems to be incoming to the game as well.

Data miner BobNetworkUK did not reveal when the assault rifle might return to the game, but if one had to take a guess on the possibility and given how the files are already added, the weapon may be coming in Season 4 or Season 4 Reloaded mid-season update.
The gun has been a favorite pick of players due to its low recoil and high damage, and the same could happen again if it comes into the game. However, players are advised not to get their hopes up and to take this leak with a pinch of salt and wait until the developer announces the weapon.
The Assault Rifle Isn’t the Only World War 2 Weapon Coming to the Game
While players may be happy that the meta assault rifle may be coming to the game in Season 4, there are a few other weapons that the same data miner, BobNetworkUK, has reported could be coming to the game. This includes the popular long-range weapon Kar98, which was heavily used in Verdansk and Caldera.
The other weapon is the SPAS-12 shotgun. According to the data miner, they have found attachments for these weapons in the game files, and given how they now have uncovered assault rifles reportedly coming to the game, it is only a matter of time before these are announced, but it is just speculation as of now.

These weapons joining the Modern Warfare 3 arsenal again would surely be appreciated by the fans. Players are even speculating that the developer may have a Vanguard-themed event planned for the game, while some think Sledgehammer may be going back to World War II for the next Call of Duty entry.
