Season 4 for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone is dropping next week on May 29. There are many changes in Call of Duty Season 4, such as new perks, killstreaks, maps, and weapons. Some of this content will be available at launch while others will drop during the mid-season.

For example, two weapons are available at launch, while two more will drop later in the season. One of the launch weapons is the classic Kar98k rifle, unlocked at level 16 or Sector 5 in the Battle Pass. Although four new weapons were formally announced, there’s actually eight more to look out for.

The easiest way Call of Duty developers can refresh the game’s life is by adding new weapons and maps for players to sink their teeth into. Maps are harder to implement as only three new 6v6 maps are entering Season 4. New weapons and guns are easier but harder to balance in the grand scheme of Call of Duty.

Hence, there are only four new weapons in total for all of Season 4. As a compromise, there will be eight new Aftermarket Part attachments players can use at launch. The parts themselves vary from weapon to weapon. It can increase fire rate, improve range, or reduce recoil.

While eight new weapons would’ve been better for players to try out, the Aftermarket Part attachments nearly do the same thing but with existing guns. Changing the behavior of each weapon can turn a slightly below average gun into one worth using and vice versa.

Furthermore, if an attachment becomes overpowered in the community’s eyes, the team can address the issue and nerf it accordingly.

Beside the new weapons, three new 6v6 maps are being added for Modern Warfare 3 players. The two available at launch, Tokyo and Paris, are medium-size maps with iconography of the respective capitals. Tokyo is set for nighttime, while Paris is during the day.

The third map is called Incline, another medium-sized map but it will be dropping at the mid-season point. The snowy mountain outpost looks vaguely similar to Black Ops’ Summit map, a fan favorite among Call of Duty players.

Warzone players can expect new rewards, the return of Buy Back Royale Solos, and new Gulag layouts to make the 1v1 battles refreshing.

No major map changes for the battle-royale mode but keep an eye out for everything else the team is introducing. Call of Duty Season 4 for Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone is launching on May 29 with plenty of additional content in the future.
