Exciting New Halo Infinite Forge Leaks Promise Campaign AI – Could Release in Season 5

Halo Infinite will be seeing a plethora of new features added to Forge soon. With the heavily rumored Firefight mode likely inbound sooner than later, more information has been coming out from several reliable Halo leakers. Much of this information comes from data leftover in the full released game’s API.  Twitter user Surasia_ has listed all of the known things in the current API that relate to AI in Forge mode’s nodegraph, which will allow players to add and script characters from the game’s campaign mode to their multiplayer maps.

Sura notes that there is a plethora of campaign AI in the game’s API right now. Essentially these boil down to all of the enemy aliens from the campaign and their different variants, as wekk as Droppods, Pelicans, and Phantoms. One very interesting inclusion on this list, however, was Human (Marine.) It seems now that not only will Forge allow players to include enemy AI in the form of alien baddies from the campaign but also allied AI characters with Marines of several variations.

Also on the list is the Harbinger, one of Halo Infinite’s primary antagonists and the final boss of the game. Sura notes, however, that this may not be forgeable, though he does list it a second time later in the “AI types” list. Based on this, it seems as though it may be possible to run a different enemy’s AI regardless of the model used. Could it be possible to create Firefight maps with enemy Marines by using other enemies’ AI with those models? For now, it remains to be seen.

Halo’s Biggest Forge Gets Bigger

Forge in Infinite is already the most powerful in the franchise, and it could grow exponentially more robust soon.

This is not the only recent leak about Halo Infinite making the rounds right now, however. Well known account Halo Leaks also broke several days ago that 343 Industries is currently internally testing a mode called Extraction, which was rumored and leaked about a year ago, two maps called Crystal Caves and Forbidden, something called Custom Game Progression, the aforementioned Forge AI, and a new canvas called Deadlands.

When asked what exactly Custom Game Progression even is, Halo Leaks did not say much, just saying “I’d imagine some sort of progression system for Customs, beyond that currently unknown & it’s being tested.  No official confirmations.” As such, what it is and if it will be cleared for public release at all is a big mystery.

He notes, however, that none of this is confirmation for content for Season 5, so while this may be testing now, we do not yet know when it will release publicly. Sura seemed more optimistic, however, saying flat out in a tweet that he believes that Firefight and AI in Forge “will be the main thing for S5” of the game, which is due out on October 17, the same day as Alan Wake II.

Many fans will certainly be excited by all the new possibilities opened up by the addition of AI into Forge. It has previously also been suggested that these AI placements can even be used in non-PvE modes such as Capture the Flag, potentially opening up a new type of map obstacles. Furthermore, it would allow the playerbase to create levels that look and feel like standard campaign missions, sans dialogue.

While this information comes from reliable sources and most likely indicates some of the content that will make it into the game, it is important to still take it all with a grain of salt. As none of this content has yet been officially confirmed, it is always possible it ends up being scrapped or delayed internally. That said, 343 has previously confirmed its intentions to look into adding campaign AI to Forge, so it seems logical it will indeed arrive with a mode such as Firefight or Extraction.
