It may have its quirks, but Helldivers 2 is an overall solid action shooter that offers a fun experience for those who want to jump into a quick game with their friends or randoms online. While the game has become a cultural phenomenon, it is a sequel to a game that was also highly regarded at the time.

Released back in 2015, Helldivers was a game that garnered a significant amount of praise among the community, but it was very different from the sequel we can play now. However, that hasn’t stopped fans from comparing the two and hoping some features from the original can be added to the sequel.

Helldivers 2 Fans Ask For Sorting Feature to Make a Comeback

Game sequels always build on the foundations set by the previous title. The idea is to offer the player a new experience without having it stray too far from what they have come to expect from the franchise. However, sometimes the sequel takes some bold new approaches, which necessitates leaving behind some aspects of the original.

Helldivers 1 was also a squad-based shooter, but with a very different perspective, quite literally. The original game offered an isometric view of the battlefield, which the sequel changed to a traditional over-the-shoulder perspective. However, this is not the only thing that was changed, as one Redditor has asked for a feature to be added to the current title.

Redditor assuageer posted a screenshot to the games subreddit, asking the developers if the feature could be brought back. It shows a filter feature, allowing the Helldiver to sort through the different missions and make the selection process more manageable. It’s not the first feature fans have requested to be brought back from the original game, and we doubt it will be the last.

This may be a feature people would want to see in the game, but one fan does not feel it may make the cut. It would make sorting through missions easier, but given that most seem to be focusing on the Terminids, this may push people even further from fighting the Automatons.

Arrowhead Has a Lot of Work to Put Into the Game

Will Arrowhead be able to fix the game as per feedback?

Some of the additions requested by fans may be suggestions and quality-of-life improvements, but others are far more serious, and Arrowhead needs to pay attention to them. The severe criticism levied against their latest Viper Commandos Warbond is a sign that the community is not happy with the direction Helldivers 2 is headed.

Many had called the studio’s original estimate of releasing a Warbond every month an unrealistic goal. This seems to have taken root in how the studio is changing its approach to its content updates.

Warbonds will now be released a little later than usual but should contain more content for players to enjoy. Ideally, this should also give the developers more time to work on patching and fixing many of the bugs players have encountered.

While some are small and merely break immersion, others are far more serious and can also affect how certain in-game mechanics function. What functionality would you like to see added to the game? Let us know in the comments below!
