Elizabeth Olsen and Jeremy Renner’s friendship has a long way to go, but they are two of the most cherished friends off-screen in addition to playing amazing superheroes from the MCU characters. The two A-list celebrities, who have worked together in several critically acclaimed films, lead roles, and solo series, have remained close friends since their first on-screen collaboration in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The actors, who starred in the 2017 neo-Western crime film Wind River, also enjoy making fun of each other, just like any normal friend would. We are all aware of Renner’s remarkable talent for portraying somber and serious roles, but Olsen once subtly called him the grumpy cat.

What was the Dahmer actor’s response to this?

Elizabeth Olsen Called Jeremy Renner a ‘Grumpy Cat’ and He Had A Hilarious Reaction

During one of his previous appearances on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Jeremy Renner learned what Elizabeth Olsen, his Wind River co-star, actually thought of him.

The 45-year-old host Corden showed the 52-year-old actor a clip of Olsen from the previous night, saying she thought he reminded her of a “grumpy cat”. Note that the Hawkeye actor was seated next to Aubrey Plaza who voiced Grumpy Cat and was also a guest on the show along with Chris O’Dowd.

In the video, the WandaVision actress was seen saying (via The Late Late Show with James Corden):

“You’re just like, ‘Can you stop looking so grumpy’ because everything is fine, it’s the morning nothing bad has happened. He looks like a grumpy cat.”

Without saying a word, Renner’s response was direct as he raised his two middle fingers while facing the camera. Not to be outdone, Corden displayed an image of Grumpy Cat on the screen for comparison.

The mayor of Kingstown actor raised his finger once again, and everyone burst out laughing.

They starred in the 2017 Taylor Sheridan movie Wind River. Renner once spoke to ET about what it was like to work with his MCU co-star in a different setting:

“It’s been a wonderful, wonderful experience with her.”

The Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol actor said he never worried too much about missing out on hanging out with Olsen because they live in the same area:

“She’s like my neighbor. She lives around the corner from me, so I see her all the time.”

Apparently, Olsen enjoys working with Renner just as much as he enjoys working with her. She explained to Vulture that it was not always like that and that her first day on an Avengers: Age of Ultron set was actually stressful. She laughed as she continued:

“I was intimidated by him because of his dryness and because he doesn’t sugarcoat things. He’s not overly friendly.”

Moreover, he advised her to base Wanda’s character on her love for her family when she asked him for advice:

“I asked him, ‘This is really overwhelming — what do you even focus on?’ And he started talking about his character’s family, and how that roots him into something tangible. That’s exactly what you should be doing, and I should have already known that before starting: that you need to find something tangible in these moments of chaos.”

Olsen now has nothing but wonderful things to say about how their friendship developed from there:

“It’s fun to poke at him a bit so that he knows you see him. We don’t really need someone to be fluffy with us.”
