Captain America: New World Order is about to shake a few things up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Making Edward Norton’s Incredible Hulk canon is one of the first orders of business for the Phase Five project. The 2008 film which premiered alongside Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man has gone on unacknowledged and underappreciated for far too long in the MCU.

Being the only solo Hulk origin arc film to be produced under the banner of MCU, it was high time that Marvel finally brought in the partisans most definitively linked with the green superhero to participate in this new regime set by shifting hierarchies and second-generation heroes rising up in response to the time’s need.

New World Order Witnesses Surprising MCU Reprisals

The fourth Captain America installment, set to be released in 2024 as part of the MCU Phase Five lineup, will have a direct connection to the events of The Incredible Hulk and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The plot will witness Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who will be portrayed by Harrison Ford, appear in the film as General Ross.

Sam Wilson has already displayed his resistance and hesitation to the call asking for him to take up Cap’s shield after the events of Avengers: Endgame. However, considering how Sam Wilson has finally risen to the occasion as the new Captain America, one can fully expect to see Anthony Mackie in action in the new film’s front and center.

However, among all the politics and action that generally dictate the plot and narrative of a Captain America film, details as small as the arrival of Mr. Blue is easy to get lost in the floodgate of information. The new roster of characters set to appear in NWO includes Tim Blake Nelson’s Samuel Sterns aka Leader after the actor was last seen in the 2008 film, The Incredible Hulk.

Considering how Mr. Blue is directly tied to Edward Norton‘s Hulk arc, the public announcement of Nelson’s reprisal of his role has now given rise to rumors of Norton’s return as well. Given how World War Hulk has been making noise for some time now, the Multiverse could be setting up the return of the actor in the MCU after an absence of 16 years.

Will New World Order Witness Liv Tyler’s Betty Ross in MCU?

Given how the MCU Phase Five film hauls Samuel Sterns into the mainstream continuity as the primary antagonist of New World Order, there remains a high possibility of witnessing other players from The Incredible Hulk transitioning over to assist with the plot outcome. Until now, Thunderbolt Ross had been the sole character to have an involved role in the entirety of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a direct supervisor to the Avengers, including the highly divisive Sokovia Accords and the ensuing Civil War.

Now, with another era of fractious events set to occupy the Marvel narrative, rumors suggest characters like Betty Ross, daughter of General Ross, could step in to mediate the situation. In the comics as well as the cinematic adaptations of Hulk, Betty Ross has always played an integral role in ameliorating her father’s extreme measures involving the green Avenger. A brilliant scientist who has also had a run as the Red She-Hulk in the comics, Betty Ross’s character could enter the fray in the chaotic stage set by New World Order, further leaving the door open for a World War Hulk event.

Considering how Liv Tyler‘s Betty Ross has already had direct communication with Tim Blake Nelson’s Samuel Sterns, the actress could also return to deal with the plot involving Sterns’ antagonist. However, no confirmation has been made via the official channels.

Additionally, after the recent appearance of Tim Roth’s Abomination, it looks like the long-awaited transition of the characters from Edward Norton’s film into the mainstream MCU from the sidelines is now making incredible headway.
