What Was Carey Mulligan’s Unusual Demands from the Netflix Team?
For some research purposes on her portrayal of Felicia Montealegre Bernstein, Carey Mulligan went to Santiago and met the Bernstein family. After doing the research, when she was ready to leave and came to the airport, she found out that she had COVID. She had to stay there.
Then she asked for some things from the Netflix team. When asked what she needs, Mulligan demanded two unusual things.
“When I got stuck in my hotel room in Chile, I said to Netflix, “I can’t come back, I’ve got COVID.” And they said, “Well, what can we send you?” I said, “I just need a canvas and some paints!” (Variety)
She did not want to look inexperienced while playing the character.
“I don’t want to look like I have no idea what I’m doing, so I started going to painting classes, and I absolutely loved it.”
And thus, being a non-painter, she during her stay due to COVID, started doing painting lessons, because painting was a big part of Felicia Bernstein’s life.
