When Carrie Fisher Had An Affair With Harrison Ford

Carrie Fisher‘s rise to stardom in the 1970s came after her inclusion as a cast member in George Lucas’ debut masterpiece, Star Wars, in 1977. While the main stars of the movie weren’t too fond of each other during its filming, the commercial success eventually hardened their bond as friends.

However, it seems like the bond between Harrison Ford and Fisher was especially strong. Decades after the release of the first Star Wars movie and after a lot of public speculation about the pair being involved in an affair, Fisher finally admitted in 2016 to People that she did indeed have a romantic fling with her co-star.

Ford was already married at the time and also had two children. Their affair came about when Ford had saved his co-star from crew members with bad intentions at George Lucas’ 32nd birthday party. As written in her 2016 memoir The Princess Diarist, the Raiders of the Lost Ark star took her to the back of his car and did things that people in an affair would do.

Regardless, their affair lasted only for three months, and all came to an end.

Carrie Fisher Wishes It Was Mark Hamill Instead Of Harrison Ford

Regardless of how crazy she was for the Han Solo actor, Carrie Fisher notes that their affair was very one-sided. The Hannah and Her Sisters star became obsessed with her new love interest, while the other was not too into it.

She describes how not-serious Ford was about the affair with her in The Princess Diarist-

“I’m sure that on our relative lists of priorities as we went about filming, I might have ranked as high as number fifteen on his agenda, while Harrison was my number one.”

She continues, saying that she wishes it was Luke Skywalker actor Mark Hamill instead of Ford who had no interest in her other than a small affair-

“I’m sorry it’s not Mark. It could’ve been. It should’ve been. It might’ve meant something… Maybe not much, but certainly more.”

It took quite a long time for Fisher to open up about the much-speculated affair. However, fans will be happy to know that she at least was able to take it off her chest as she would sadly pass away on December 27, 2016- five weeks after The Princess Diarist was released.
