While fans love seeing the chemistry between two characters in a movie or a series, they cannot help but wonder if the two get along off-screen or not. The same goes for the characters of Henry Cavill and Anya Chalotra in The Witcher. Henry Cavill plays Geralt of Rivia whereas, on the other hand, Anya Chalotra plays Yennefer.

So, do the two actors get along in real life or not? Well, this question seems to have already been answered by Anya Chalotra herself. In an interview, the actress was asked about what it was like working alongside Henry Cavill as a growing artist. She had nothing but good words for her co-star and stated that working with him was a learning curve for her. We wonder how she feels about Liam Hemsworth taking over the role!

In an interview with RecentlyHeard.com, Anya Chalotra was asked about her experience with having Henry Cavill as a co-star. She stated that Cavill was always professional, polite, and everything nice when he was on the sets of The Witcher. As a growing artist, Chalotra felt that Cavill’s presence helped her learn a lot and called it a privilege to be working beside him. She even addressed Yennefer and Geralt’s relationship, calling it “animalistic and raw and s*xy.” In Chalotra’s opinion, Cavill truly cared about the people on the set as well as the show itself.

“It’s been such a learning curve for me to work alongside Henry..,[He is] incredibly professional, polite, brilliant, very experienced, clearly in the world of acting and being on sets that big, very experienced being a leader of a team with such grace. It’s a real privilege to play alongside him, especially with the relationship Yennefer and Geralt have, which is so animalistic and raw and s*xy…he was just so empathetic and his experience just helped in every conversation we had. He cares about you; he cares about the show.”

Chalotra’s view of Cavill on the set of The Witcher is totally the opposite of what was reported some time back. While it was rumored that Cavill was difficult on the set and unprofessional, Chalotra begs to differ. In a separate interview with Elle Australia, she stated that the Man of Steel actor is “lovely” and a “very sweet man.” She also added that the enthusiasm he brought on the set was inspiring to her.

With such positive and love-filled words for Cavill, we cannot help but imagine how Liam Hemsworth will fill his shoes. Will he be able to receive the same admiration from Chalotra as Cavill has? We’re gonna have to wait for a while to find out!

How Anya Chalotra Played a Part in Henry Cavill’s Casting

While Chalotra is not the main lead in The Witcher, her character was the first one that the show cast. Talking to Metro, the casting director of the Netflix original, Sophie Holland, stated that she had seen the Wanderlust actress in her first-ever audition for another project. Ever since then, Holland knew that she and Chalotra would be working together. Well, maybe that’s why first impressions are important!

Holland also revealed that while Chalotra was among the top ten girls for the role, she had no acting credits to her name. Holland was worried about how she was going to convince the team to go with Chalotra, but in the end, no convincing was needed. She called Chalotra “The easiest find.”

Somewhere else, Cavill was striving to become a part of The Witcher as he “annoyed” his agents to hook him up for the show. However, the casting director was steadfast on her criteria; Cavill had to have the perfect chemistry with Chalotra to be cast as Geralt.

“She [Chalotra] was cast before anyone else. If you imagine casting sort of secondary lead before you’ve even found Geralt. They couldn’t chemistry read together. We’d already booked her. We had to find a guy who would just [fit].”

Holland and the team went with their guts, and in the end, it turned out to be quite fruitful. She later admitted that they just knew Cavill would fit the role as soon as he opened his mouth.

Ever since then, Cavill was never far from Chalotra’s mind. The actress certainly grew a liking for him, and rightly so. Who wouldn’t? Unfortunately (for Chalotra and the fans), Cavill’s Geralt will no longer be a part of The Witcher. Replaced by Hemsworth, we wonder if Chalotra will have the same opinion of him as she has of Cavill.

The Witcher is available to stream on Netflix.
