Although Cyberpunk 2077 wasn’t exactly blessed with an ideal launch, CD Projekt Red slowly regained control of the situation by trying to make the experience better for its fans. Since its messy initial release, the action role-playing game has received various updates, successfully improving the title with each one, along with a universally acclaimed anime series called Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
All of these aspects combined finally gave CDPR fans enough reason to put their collective faith back in the developer.
And the game doesn’t seem to be stopping its winning streak anytime soon because of an upcoming version 2.0, which is apparently so big that it deserves a brand new playthrough, according to CDPR.
CDPR Isn’t Messing Around With Cyberpunk 2077 Version 2.0
CD Projekt Red is no stranger to making bold claims about its highly divisive title, Cyberpunk 2077, and it seems like the tradition is continuing with the game’s upcoming version 2.0. CDPR shared the latest announcement on X, addressing the game’s community as “chooms” while talking about approximately how big the upcoming update is going to be.
If anything, this shows how much the developer is willing to bet on its ambitious video game, and rightfully so, because Cyberpunk 2077 has finally turned into the fulfilling experience it was always meant to be, more or less.
Naturally, for better or worse, fans are once again extremely excited for the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 version 2.0 update while also looking forward to the highly anticipated DLC expansion called Phantom Liberty. According to developer CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 version 2.0 is so massive that it warrants a completely new save.
The aforementioned post on X highlights the fact that players will be able to seamlessly continue their current playthrough saves into the updated version, but it is advised to start the game from the very beginning.

When Is Cyberpunk 2077 Version 2.0 Coming Out?
Cyberpunk 2077 version 2.0 will be released worldwide on September 21, and CD Projekt Red’s post makes it quite clear that it will be a massively overhauled edition of the title because of the huge number of changes that are set to accompany the update. According to the developer, it is highly recommended to begin a new journey and playthrough if you are looking to “enhance your overall gameplay experience.”
However, for the players who do not really want to start playing the game all over again, there is the option of going into the update “with your current character on an existing save.”
In addition to the version 2.0 update, Cyberpunk 2077 fans are also getting treated to an intriguing new DLC expansion called Phantom Liberty very soon. It will be launched in just a few days on September 26, and is set to feature plenty of new content, which includes vibrant characters, an expansive area, a fresh story, some interesting quests, intense boss fights, and random gigs.
Moreover, Idris Elba has taken center stage of the DLC’s marketing because he will also be making an appearance and voicing a character in Phantom Liberty.
