John Cena Helped Brodus Clay Get His WrestleMania Moment

Back in 2012, the hype for WrestleMania 28 was immeasurable, since wrestling legend John Cena was gearing up to face The Rock, in a once-in-lifetime match. But prior to the highly anticipated fight, Brodus Clay was set to be involved in a “Funkasaurus” celebration to lighten up the mood. Unfortunately, due to a time shortage, Clay’s segment was canceled at the last minute by Vince McMahon.

However, standing backstage alongside Brodus Clay, John Cena realized how Vince McMahon stole his fellow wrestler’s WrestleMania moment, by canceling his segment. Therefore, Cena asserted his authority and did something that may have angered McMahon but pleased Clay. Years later, during his interview with Insight’s Chris Van Vliet, Clay recalled the story and revealed how Cena had selflessly helped him.

We were supposed to have a match with Heath Slater but time got cut and Cena did one of the most selfless things that a guy, who’s the top guy, who doesn’t have to do things like this. He was in there and Vince was shaking his head. The match before — wasn’t one particular thing but they were heavy on time, they had gone over and he’s like, he was shaking his head, and I think he was talking to Michael Hayes and another one of the producers and he was like, ‘I think we’re gonna have to we have to cut it.’

Then all of a sudden, Cena was getting ready, he’s right behind me and he looks at me and goes, ‘I have to go to the bathroom.’ I went, ‘What?’ He’s like, ‘I have to go to the bathroom. I don’t know, usually, I go the bathroom I don’t know, what, eight minutes? Six minutes?’ I was like, ‘Six. I can get in six.’ He’s like, ‘Alright,’ and he just walked out of Gorilla. So now I had to go. So I went and I got my WrestleMania moment because Cena had to go to the bathroom.

Clarifying that Cena had faked a bathroom break, Clay attributed his dream come true to the Peacemaker star.

Brodus Clay Hailed John Cena for Being Considerate

According to Brodus Clay, John Cena’s considerate gesture was purely from the goodness of his heart, especially since a guy with his level of success does not have to do any favors for anybody. Therefore, since Cena took things into his own hands to help Clay, the former WWE star noted that the legend deserves all the respect from fans and peers.

So yeah, that’s the reason why you could never tell me nothing bad about John Cena because he was the top guy and there was no reason for him to do that other than he just felt like it was the right thing to do… So I always shake hands with every – whenever security covers me for events. I always thank everybody and Cena had a lot to do with that.

Certainly, following Brodus Clay’s behind-the-scenes story from WrestleMania 28, John Cena emerges as one of the most generous and thoughtful individuals in the wrestling industry. And now, although it’s certain that Cena holds a fair share of haters, Clay’s anecdote is sure to melt their hearts as well.

Anyone who doesn’t think Cena is one of the GOATS has something wrong with them.

Cena got a lot of hate, but he actually did quite a lot for guys. It’s not really his fault Vince booked him like Superman for like 12 years.

It’s great that Tyrus still remembers this and cherishes that moment in his life.

John Cena is such a good guy for doing that. That’s a great story.

Always liked Cena as a human being. This is just more proof of his deserving that respect.

Taking to the YouTube comment section of CVV Clips, fans expressed their appreciation for John Cena. Hailing the wrestling legend much like Clay, netizens reflected on Cena’s generosity, praising his heartfelt gestures.
