Former child star Austin Majors tragically passed away at the age of 27. According to L.A. County Medical Examiner-Coroner, the young actor died on Saturday, and the exact cause of death is still unknown. TMZ reported that Majors died at a homeless housing facility in Los Angeles.

Majors was born on November 23, 1995, and is popularly known for his role as Theo Sipowicz, the son of Dennis Franz’s Detective Andy Sipowicz from NYPD Blue, which aired from 1999 to 2004.

Austin Majors finished his degree in cinematography and film/video production at USC in 2017. His other notable movie and television credits included Treasure Planet, Brother Bear, Elf, Threshold, and According to Jim.

A source told TMZ that there was no foul play in Majors’ death, but suspected of ingesting a fatal amount of fentanyl. The autopsy was conducted on Monday, and the final toxicology results will be handed over in a few months.

Austin Majors was involved in a controversial issue in 2003 when his character walked on a naked Charlotte Ross as she was about to take a bath. It led to several complaints against ABC studio and a $1.4 million fine.

The actor received a Young Artist award in 2002 for his performance in NYPD Blue, which ran for 12 seasons and has won several Emmys. He was also nominated for Best Performance in a Voice-Over Role for Treasure Planet.
