Justin Bieber has reached global popularity because of his successful albums and concert tours, though many countries chose to close their doors on the artist because of several criticisms. The singer has apparently displayed “bad behavior” during his stay in various countries, one of which was China.
During his Asia tour to promote his album Purpose, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture banned Bieber from performing in Mainland China. Fans were disappointed with the news, but the bureau had their reasons for doing so.
Justin Bieber Angered China After Displaying “Bad Behavior”
Justin Bieber was supposed to hold concerts around Asian countries, such as Japan, India, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Singapore, and Indonesia. China was left out, and this disheartened a lot of fans. One of them posted a question on the bureau’s website via Variety:
“Please give a detailed explanation of why Justin Bieber is not allowed to come to China! [He] has won many major awards, which demonstrates his extraordinary talents. Why aren’t mainland fans given the right to enjoy his performance?”
The bureau promptly replied that they canceled the Canadian singer’s tour because of his “bad behavior.” Fans would remember the artist visiting the Great Wall of China with his bodyguards carrying him on their shoulders. Not only was this regarded as a sign of disrespect to the ancient place, but also an inconsiderate action towards other visitors.
The officials expressed their sympathy towards the fans who won’t be able to attend Bieber’s concert, but they also firmly reasoned that it was the best decision for the welfare of the people and the country.
“We sympathize with your feelings. Justin Bieber is a talented singer but is also a controversial young foreign idol. We understand that there are records of his bad behavior, whether it is in his private life abroad or on stage.”
Additionally, the evaluation was made to keep the order of the entertainment business in the country and prevent any inappropriate acts from propagating across the media.
“His inappropriate manner has caused public discontent. In order to regulate the market order of show business in China and purify the market environment, it was decided that performers of inappropriate behavior will not be welcomed.”
This is not the first time China has banned international artists from performing in the country. Similarly, China is not the only place where Bieber was barred from entering.
Justin Bieber Was Banned From Doing Live Interviews
Justin Bieber and the word “ban” seemed to always go together as the artist was also prohibited from doing live interviews. Apart from his behavior, he was also notoriously known for making controversial comments on television. A source told Page Six:
“Justin’s people are so terrified of him speaking live, they’re doing everything pre-taped.”
This was unanimously agreed by the singer’s team to avoid any potential mishaps, especially after he has apologized multiple times in the past for being involved in several offenses, such as driving under the influence of alcohol and substances, as well as throwing eggs at his neighbor’s house.
Bieber has been the subject of public scrutiny after he has seemingly mastered the art of saying the wrong things during interviews when he’s not getting in strife with the authorities.
