Chris Evans Not Returning To The MCU After ‘Avengers 4’

Avengers Infinity War and Avengers 4 are two movies that are meant to serve as an end of an era for part of the beloved Marvel Cinematic Universe. With contracts wrapping up for many actors in the MCU, Phase 4 will be a new beginning for the MCU in more ways than one. For Chris Evans, who has been a big part of these films for many years in the role of Captain America, Avengerswill be the end of the line.

In an interview with The New York Times, Evans spoke about how the next two Avengers films will be his final performances as Captain America before retiring from the iconic role:

“You want to get off the train before they push you off.”

The article goes on to say how Evans will go for Avengers 4 reshoots in the fall, which will effectively “mark the end of his tenure in the familiar red, white and blue super suit.”

For many fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this news will be tough, but everything eventually comes to an end. Evans has become the definitive Captain America for many audiences of all ages. After many films in the role, it will be time to say goodbye to his iteration of the patriotic super soldier. It will be sad to see his Captain America go.

Many fans are hoping for either Bucky or Sam to eventually take over the mantle of Cap. Kevin Feige has even talked about the possibility of Steve Rogers being recast down the road.
