As the making of the fifth film is still up in the air, Hemsworth recently announced that he would be spending more time with his family and engaging in less movie hustle in the future. It’s unknown whether he’ll return or not. But one thing’s for sure – he’s still holding a bit of a grudge against Cate Blanchett.

Why Does Chris Hemsworth Hold a Grudge Against Cate Blanchett?

Why is Chris Hemsworth still mad at Cate Blanchett? The ultimate answer is Marvel’s family drama. In the Thor: Ragnarok saga of 2017, Loki and Thor find out they have a sibling named Hela, played by the mighty Cate Blanchett.

In the flick, Hela steps into the scene and shatters Thor’s pride and joy – Mjolnir, the almighty hammer – with one hand. Hemsworth got a harsh Mjolnir reminder when Cate Blanchett playfully brought up the hammer’s epic destruction in Tar Oscar campaigns in LA last year.

She visited Disneyland and was photographed with Tom Hiddleston donning Loki and Chris Hemsworth as Thor. He tweeted, “What a nice reunion. I’m still mad about Mjolnir, though.”

In 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, Thor gets a new hammer called Stormbreaker. In the time-traveling escapade of Avengers: Endgame, he snags Mjolnir from the past.

He then dual-wields both hammers in the epic Battle of Earth. Despite all, the destruction of Mjolnir remains one of the most striking moments in the MCU to date.

While appearing on WIRED, even Hemsworth had something to say about the Oscar-winning actress when asked who his favorite actor was. The Marvel star said:

“Ooh the pressure. Cate Blanchett, I worked with on ‘Ragnarok. It’s pretty hard to go by, you know, being an Australian, a fellow Aussie, someone I’ve looked up to for many years, many years, and has its been in some of my favorite films, played some of the best characters on screen and continues to do it with such grace and integrity and has a wonderful sense of humor and warmth and is kind and supportive. She’s brilliant.”

They even revisited Vogue cover stories from the 2017 November issue.
