Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man is known as the father figure to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man ever since the character’s debut in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. After the tragic events in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, Peter Parker was left to navigate the world on his own.
But, there’s still hope that the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man will find a new mentor in another Avenger. In fact, Chris Hemsworth’s words of wisdom just proved that Thor is fit to teach Peter Parker some valuable lessons in life.
Chris Hemsworth Helped Tom Holland Bag The Spider-Man Role
Tom Holland was really lucky to have had the best Hollywood actors as mentors when he landed the part of Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Interestingly, one of the main leads was responsible for his casting in the coveted role. Chris Hemsworth vouched for Holland as he revealed via Entertainment Tonight:
“We worked on ‘In the Heart of the Sea’ together, obviously, then through ‘Avengers’ and as they were casting him for Spider-Man, I did what I could do and made a call and said he’s one of the most talented people I’ve worked with and has such a big heart and appreciation.”
Hemsworth’s good assessment of Holland seemed to have done wonders. When the actor finally joined the cast, he revealed receiving a message from the Thor star via E! News:
“Once I got cast he sent me a really lovely email about just make sure you keep your feet on the ground and you don’t let this affect you. You keep your family and your friends close, and that’s exactly what I’ve done.”
There’s no doubt Holland has emerged as one of the biggest stars of this generation – he has learned from the best and worked with the most experienced actors in the industry. For the curious ones, Robert Downey Jr.’s advice to Holland was simple and straightforward: just relax.
“As you can imagine I was pretty terrified, and he came up to me and said, ‘Look, I felt exactly the same as you did when I did my test for Iron Man, but just relax, let your body take over and, and if it’s meant to be it’ll happen.’ ”
In the end, Holland made his own mark, and fans are absolutely excited to see the actor reprise his role in the upcoming fourth installment of Spider-Man.
Will Tom Holland Return As Spider-Man?
Tom Holland is yet to confirm his return in Spider-Man 4, but he admitted that he has been in active conversation with the studio for a potential reprisal. He told GQ:
“I feel very, very lucky that we were able to work on a franchise that got better with each movie, that got more successful with each movie, which I think is really rare, and I want to protect his legacy. So, I won’t make another one for the sake of making another one. It will have to be worth the while of the character.”
While fans are patiently waiting for Holland to board the Marvel ship again, feel free to binge-watch the Spider-Man trilogy on Disney+.
