In his interview with Audacy’s V-103, Chris Tucker teased his return to the Rush Hour series alongside co-star Jackie Chan (via Variety):

You’re going to see a lot of good stuff coming, but it’s going to be on a whole other level. That’s what I like… I’m excited about that. It’s not going to be what you’ve normally seen.”

Tucker is quite eager to reprise his role as Carter, the other half of the tandem. He also added:

Rush Hour 4, that’s something I definitely will probably drop in there because I love working with Jackie, but I’ve got some new stuff that I think you’re really gonna like. I’m excited about it.”

Aside from the potential return of Tucker and Chan, there are no official details on the upcoming fourth movie. The project has been in talk for years, and the other half of the duo said in 2019 on Winging It podcast (via ScreenRant):

We’re working on a few things on the script right now, so we’re trying to get into production. But we’re working on it and trying to get it going. Jackie Chan wants to do it, I want to do it, [the] studio wants to do it, so we’re trying to get it together. I guess, Jackie and me, but yeah, I was definitely down as long as it comes together right. And it looks like it’s coming together right.”

The plan did not get off the ground, and despite Tucker foretelling its progress in the same year, the sequel did not happen. Chan also revealed in his interview at the Red Sea International Film Festival on December 2022 that they are “talking about ‘Rush Hour 4’ right now.”

The massive delays in the production of the long-awaited Rush Hour 4 could be attributed to several factors.

The Rush Hour trilogy was helmed by Brett Ratner, who was accused of sexual assault and harassment by several celebrities. Warner Bros ultimately cut off ties with the filmmaker, leaving the driver’s seat empty for the fourth installment.

There was also a statement released by Chan’s management that said the actor, in reality, has not agreed to star in the fourth one, and that delayed the production again. Since then, there have been no updates on the project.
