Reportedly, the maker’s choice for the lead characters of the movie like Brian O’Conner, Mia, and Dom was offered to many other famous actors. It’s hard for fans to imagine any other star cast but the makers had a different star cast in mind. Before Paul Walker signed up for The Fast and the Furious, Christian Bale, Eminem, and Mark Wahlberg were on the list of potential actors to play Brian O’Conner. Fans served mixed reactions to the fact that Bale, Eminem, and Wahlberg could have played Walker’s character in the adventure movie.

Eliza Dushku was in the mind of the makers when the character of Mia Toretto, Dominic Toretto’s sister, was written. Sadly, the True Lies actress declined the offer and the makers had to audition other actresses. As per the reports Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jessica Biel, Kirsten Dunst, and Natalie Portman auditioned for the role of Mia. Vin Diesel’s character Dom was first offered to Timothy Olyphant but the actor said no to the film. It’s been more than 20 years since the first installment of the series was released and in 2023, the cast and crew came back with their 10th installment.

During an interview, the 55-year-old actor revealed that he first thought the character of Dom was a bit complex. The Fast Five actor said his character evolved with time and the audiences are able to see it. While talking about how his character Diesel said,

“Obviously, we met him when his whole world was about brotherhood and I think we met Dom Toretto when he was maybe not so optimistic about the world, and maybe not convinced that he would ever even become a father. It’s so interesting because there’s a scene in Fast Five when he’s encouraging Brian to embrace fatherhood and what we don’t realize is that he, in that moment, didn’t feel like the world was a good enough place to raise children in.”

He further added,

“Then we get to Fast 9 and now he’s a father and forced to reflect. I think that’s a huge statement about the franchise. We embrace our characters evolving on screen in a real way and I think that’s a testament to its success in many ways.”
