Christopher Nolan finally won his first Oscar

There are a lot of incredible directors and filmmakers in Hollywood who have won the Academy Awards in the past for their brilliant work. Last night, Christopher Nolan also joined that group of the greats and finally got his name etched in the history of cinema after delivering many blockbusters throughout his career spanning over 3 decades.

Christopher Nolan received 3 nominations for Oppenheimer at the 96th Academy Awards and won two of them including Best Director and Best Film. The Academy Award for Best Director was handed to Nolan by Steven Spielberg and it was an emotional moment for the British filmmaker.

In his Award acceptance speech, Nolan went on to thank a lot of people including his family members, and the cast and crew of Oppenheimer. He said,

I can’t say enough about the incredible crew that we got together on this film um thank you to Chuck Roven for putting the book in my hands and um thank you for those who’ve been there for me and believed in me my whole career uh Dan Michael my brother Jonah my family um and the incredible Emma Thomas, producer of all our films and all our children I love you uh and uh to the academy uh just to say uh movies are just a little bit over 100 years old I mean imagine being there 100 years into painting or theater we don’t know where this incredible journey is going from here but to know that you think that I’m a meaningful part of it means the world to me.” (via ABC)

Last night must have been very magical for Christopher Nolan. He won not one, but two Academy awards after years and years of hard work and perseverance. However, what Nolan was not expecting at all last night was to run into a friend from his school days.

During the post-award ceremony interview, a reporter who is associated with DailyMail introduced herself to Nolan and revealed to the director that they both attended the same school together. The conversation started with the reporter introducing herself and saying,

Hi Chris, congratulations. This is Alison Boshoff from the DailyMail here, we were at school together.

Oh really? No stories, please.” Nolan chuckled.

No, we never tell. What happened in Mr Trumbull’s history class stays between us.” added Boshoff.

Do you mean Trotsky Trumbull, of the history department? Wow, that’s not what I was expecting to talk about in this moment.”  (via Variety)

Alison Boshoff further went on to ask Christopher Nolan about the director’s plan for celebrating this incredible milestone of his career. The Tenet director revealed that he was just going to head home to his children and have a little celebration with his family.

Oppenheimer went on to win 7 out of 13 Awards it was nominated for at the 96th Academy Awards including the Best Actor award for Cillian Murphy and the Best Supporting Actor award for Robert Downey Jr.
